I am looking for talented writers to help me create a new web series inspired by Firefly. Once the universe is well crafted we will look for funding and support from the Firefly community.

It is important to note that I am not creating a fan film. Inspired by means just that; the same feel but not. The Firefly series could easily take place in a nearby solar system, but the characters and stories are original. This is very important because the writers I work with need to be able to think outside of the fan fiction box. This is also important for commercial potential; while being a spiritual successor to Firefly allows us to make something for the fans, being original means we can find funding and broadcast options in more commercial ways. I don't want to give too much information on the concept just yet, but all details can be discussed in email later.

So far I have a basic concept of the universe, but I'm more of a producer and business person than a writer. What I need is someone who is very familiar with the Firefly universe and its fan base (so that we can craft something fitting what everyone here wants to see) and with experience in writing short stories or films. This is to be done professionally, so while spec submissions will be welcome later I really need someone reliable to start out with.

Firefly isn't coming back, at least not anytime soon, so I think it's time to create the next best thing. Hopefully we can do that together.
