Now that Dollhouse has ended, I can start this thread.

You know the drill, just list the eps from best to worst.

If you haven’t seen them all (or don't have the time), I guess, just list your top 5 and bottom 5. Or just list your top 5.

You can might want to put reasons for the rankings, or you might not. There aren’t any rules here. (except you do have to rank something)

My Ranking of Dollhouse Eps: (Anything below E1 is just me spitballin’.)

1. Epitaph One - Blew me the frak away when I first saw it.
2. The Attic - Only ep that I’ve seen twice in a row.
3. Briar Rose - Alan was damn funny as Keplar and majorly scary as Alpha.
4. A Spy in the House of Love - Dominic’s prophecy in the van always gets to me.
5. Man on the Street
6. Omega
7. Needs - Let’s go exploring!
8. Belonging - I cheered when Priya killed Nolan.
9. Echoes - Topher Brink: "Brown. Mined from the earth by the hardscrabble brown miners of North Brownderton."
10. Grey Hour
11. Haunted
12. Echo (Original unaired pilot)
13. Target
14. True Believer
15. The Left Hand - It's Summer!
16. Stage Fright
17. Ghost
18. Epitaph Two: The Return
19. Getting Closer
20. Stop Loss
21. A Love Supreme
22. The Hollow Men
23. Meet Jane Doe
24. The Public Eye
25. Belle Chose
26. Vows
27. Instinct

Operative: "Its worse than you know..." Mal: "It usually is."

I only have 3 favs,
Briar Rose
Epitaph 1
Epitaph 2

But as usual with anything Joss does, its so layered that we missed stuff and need to re watch.
Thank You

Hmm interesting post...

okay my ranking

1. Epitaph One
2. The Attic
3. Briar Rose
4. Needs
5. Spy in the House of Love
6. Belonging
7. Epitaph Two: Return
8. Getting Closer
9. Man on the Street
10. Gray Hour
11. The Public Eye
12. The Left Hand
13. Echoes
14. Omega
15. True Believer
16. The Target
17. Haunted
18 . The Hollow Men
19. Stop Loss
20. Stage Fright
21. Ghost
22. A love Supreme
23. Meet Jane Doe
24. Instinct
25. Vows
26. Belle Chose

I didn't put the unaired pilot on the list since it really doesn't fit with the rest of the episodes. It has some descent moments but it overall is just okay. If i had to rank it, I'd put it in the 11 - 15 zone.

Here's my two cents:

1. Epitaph One - Should go down as one of the great story devices of all time.

2. Omega - The climax of Echo's development; and Alan Tudyk made one great psycho

3. Man on the Street - The perfect blend of the personal, social and thriller aspects of Dollhouse

4. Echo (Original unaired pilot) - Stylish and evocative

5. The Left Hand - It is, indeed, Summer!

6. The Attic

7. Epitaph Two: The Return

8. Grey Hour - Can't really say it's a great episode, but I like it

9. A Spy in the House of Love

10. Echoes - It's all about the stockings

11. The Public Eye

12. Getting Closer

13. The Hollow Men

14. Meet Jane Doe

15. Needs

16. Briar Rose

17. Ghost

18. Stop Loss

19. A Love Supreme

20. Instinct

21. Belonging

22. Haunted - Good idea, cliched ending, and it broke the momentum of the series

23. Vows

24. Target

25. True Believer - Well done by Eliza; I just wasn't interested in the story

26. Belle Chose

27. Stage Fright - Hero protects pop star: a plot that has seldom, if ever, been done well

IMHO, Season 1 does get better. The first disc (eps 1-4) seems to be the hardest for some people to get through. (Weak episodes, mostly. Gorramit, I liked Grey Hour!)

"True Believer" was a bit hit or miss. And the mystery in "Haunted" can get old if you already know what happens, but Topher keeps things fun with-- I'm not spoilering! The rest are pretty good.

Don't know if it'll help, but maybe watch the original pilot "Echo" first. But if you choose that path, you'll have to endure repeat scenes through out the show, since the pilot was "harvested" for scenes for some of the other episodes.

[For when S2 comes out on DVD]
Season 2 is only half as good, but it does have Summer Glau (Glasses on a chain: Score!). And the ep "The Attic" was so awesome, it deserves it's own series. (A dream world would have endless potental, right?)

Do try to remove yourself from the real world as best you can (turn off lights, quiet the house) while watching "Epitaph One" to get the full effect.

Hmm....I don't know. I mean, I really, really like "The Attic", so if there wasn't a second season it wouldn't exist.

After the S2 DVD is out for a while, and the price goes down a bit, maybe I'll pick it up.

Gor-ram. If only ME had more time to flesh out S2, instead of having to hurriedly wrap it up, I just KNOW it could've been better.

I'm a patient fellow; if this season (1) pans out as I expect, I might go for 2 as well.
I hear Joss doesn't KILL everyone in the end, heh heh...

Oh my, Man On The Street just pushed Dollhouse into REAL Joss territory! Now I'm really into this show.

Okay. FUX messed with him totally again.

Start with a leash on, promise to be a good doggie.
Then Joss does what he does best.

Make great entertainment & piss networks off.
& get his series canceled.

Sadly.

Echo: "What's in store for you... you don't have anything to smile about."
Laurence Dominic: "After you beat me to a pulp, they're going to erase me... but first, they're going to erase you."
Echo: "I can take care of myself."
Laurence Dominic: "I know, that's why I'm smiling. 'Cause one day, you'll be erasing them. And even after all this, they still won't see it coming.

"Sooner or later, everybody gets theirs."

Brilliantness!

^Chris, you caught up with my DH viewing cycle. I'd better hurry up and attempt to watch with you (remotely).

^Actually, that was days ago, so we're probably finished by now, right?

*is still on E1 whoah....*

Every single time. IMO, it's right up there with (but not surpassing) Objects in Space, Becoming Pt 2, and the BDM. (Your results may vary.)

I just realized, E1 being an extra and all, I've never actually looked to see how long it was. It sure feels long. They certainly cram a whole lot of stuff in it.

Also, during my last viewing I figured out some of the lingo they used before Zone got on top of the car and started shooting at butchers.

"Barker" (Zone)- Creates a diversion, drawing all of the attackers' attention, so the group can move unnoticed; Offensive (in more than one way ).

"Point" (Mag)- Ok, that one's kind of easy. Leads the group forward; Recon.

"Mother" (Lynn)- Stays with the group; Defense.

*Thank you, Joss and Tim!

Just watched the original pilot. Really good- but not what any network would want. Too stream-of-Active-conscious for them.
I loved it, though. Very trippy.

So, question: Does Dollhouse season two expand the mythos much? Is it a must-buy for someone like me who enjoyed season one a lot (but nowhere near as much as Firefly or Buffy)?

1. Yes, S2 expanded a bit, but whether some stuff was a good idea or not is debatable.

2. That IS the question. IMO, probably not must-buy. There were several continuity, plausiblity, and other problems with that I can't get around. *Hopefully there will be a metric crapload (a lot) of extras and commentaries on the DVD to offset the weaker episodes.

I'll probably buy it anyways.

I mean I did buy Greg the Bunny DVD.

Also, just about any TV show is better without commercials.

And I just watched the BDM again, again, so of course I want to contribute to any possible way to get a sequel.

Or a spinoff show about the Attic.

(justifying, justifying, justifying....)

*(Do we know what extra type stuff is going to be on the DVD yet?)
