At least not until the thirteen episode order is complete. Maurissa tweeted this earlier. Looks like good news. http://www.thrfeed.com/2009/10/fox-we-will-air-all-13-dollhouse-episod

Is this not good news? Or are we leery of the source?

Sounds to me a little like, "Well, we've spent the money already. Might as well air it, so we don't have a repeat of that FIREFLY debacle."

I applaud FOX's decision to let the season run its course (one of the most annoying things to me is when a show is cancelled incomplete), but reading between the lines, it sounds like everyone is calling DOLLHOUSE as DOA once the season two finale airs.

More proof that Fox execs just don't get it. Watch the show! If the show sucks then the numbers aren't going to rebound. If the show is awesome then give it some time to boost the numbers.

Sadly I don't think Dollhouse falls into the awesome category.

Honestly, I'd call this calculated risk rather than ignorance on their part. Sure, each episode is going to cost money, but by now much of the network's financial investment in DOLLHOUSE has already been made.

If they pull it, the following things happen:

1) They lose any potential profits from commercials for those episodes.

2) They risk angering the Whedon fanbase. (If the discussion on this site is any indication, they won't have a Firefly-style debacle on their hands, but it might still be a minor factor.)

3) They need to find a show to fill the timeslot. A replacement show takes time and money, although I know that there was some discussion of a repeat airing of GLEE on Fridays.

My guess would be that FOX took a close look at the numbers and realized that a repeat of GLEE might not be as profitable as they'd expected. They might also not have any shows prepared that they think will do as well as DOLLHOUSE, ratings-wise (sad as that may be), or at least the ratings-to-dollar ratio isn't in their favor.

In essence, I think FOX took a look and realized that as long as DOLLHOUSE doesn't hemmorhage ratings, they don't have anything that they are confident will do better.

Uh... isn't that what they've done? Ratings were already low enough to cancel it last year. The numbers aren't rebounding. How is giving it one more shot, and cancelling it if it still gets crap rating, them not getting it?

Because all the fans already knew the show was going no where. Because just watching a few episodes everyone and their dog called the show a dud. Because they're still delusional and think the numbers might suddenly spike. These are the things they aren't grasping. I think they're pegging their hopes on a Fireflylike following to spring up. They just fail to understand that the following started because the show was good.

By "everyone" I assume you DON'T mean those that still like the show. Which makes it hardly, ya know...."every"one.

Don't presume that your opinion, even if it's held by many others, is universal.

They probably feel they don't have anything that will do better in that time slot, so feel they have nothing to lose. I like how they continue to call us Firefly fans "Rabid". Makes it sound like we are stalking all the FOX executives.

Shall I post the definition of context for you?

Some people don't like it. Others do. So, by your standard, I could just as easily say "Everyone likes the show" because some do.
