Likes to mess with stuffs.

Fox's publicity department have told a Dollhouse fansite to stop reporting rumors, because doing so harms the show. Which, of course, made said site go public with the request. Result? Bad publicity for Fox. Oops.

There are 2 ways one could look at this:

1) Fox overreacted and stupefyingly responded to a fan site regarding show content. Touchy, touchy.
This can only mean that Fox may have considered actually airing Epitaph One as mentioned in the fan-site.....or....

2) Fox overreacted and in a calculated response sought out publicity to promote the show.
I may be giving too much credit to Fox for a good idea.

If it's 1, they may have stumbled upon No. 2 without even trying - you know, the dumb luck method.

Anyway you look at it Fox overreacted.

Operative: "Its worse than you know..." Mal: "It usually is."

I see NO CHANGE in how they look at us or think about/of us. I don't grasp 'why' they think they,

1.could do this
2.thought it was a good idea
3.would 'want' to piss off us ...again
4.thought the site owner would 'obey'
5.even opened their mouth
6.did this and did NOT expect a backlash

...OMG! they are as stupid as they look!
i want a email addy to them, does anybody have one or should we just go to the site and send a polite, 'take a flying leap'(off a short bridge)kind of mail, with a quote like "Big Brother and 1984 are not true, yet. Web sites are free press/opinion, just try to stop them". I am totally amazed that they did this, what is their problem? I can't beleive a almost major studio is wasting time with web sites. If they were trying to piss us off really bad, I think they just did it.

Quite simply people I can place this in 5 words, "It's just FOX being FOX." This sort of thing really shouldn't surprise us anymore. On a comparison note yeah they get mad when fans of lesser known FOX shows do what they claim this site did. However if it was 24 or House MD for example I'd bet even Vegas odds they wouldn't even react. They'd just let it slide. Key talking point is when it comes to FOX shows and their fanbases, FOX I believe plays favorites when it comes to what they react to positively and negatively. Remember the immortal words of actor Treat Williams when he portrayed Michael Ovitz in the HBO original movie "The Late Shift": "FOX is well...they're FOX. They're three-quarters of a network at best!" Even to this day that quote holds true. Out!

EAGERREAVER

Take another look at the Publicity Manager's quote and this time bear in mind that the io9 article's heading, which quotes the non-existant phrase "shut up", is trying to poison you against the the email's author before you've even read word one.

The quoted paragraph is not the threats of a spitting and snarling hatemonger who will accept nothing less than the abject failure of Dollhouse, but the considered words of a firm but fair Publicity Manager admonishing the site poster for spreading uncorroborated rumor as fact and forcing him to expend resources to set the record straight.

Dollverse is guilty of overreacting and io9 is guilty of weilding a fallaceous headline to great effect.
