Well, the Anniversary Job was a real success, in my view. I'm proud of each and every one of you who made the effort to make it a Reality. I hope that we can make this an Annual Event.

Now, it's time for some new Mischief. I've been thinking long and hard on this, and I know what it is I think we should do. I just hope this looks as good in print as it does in my head! Please bear with me, and consider this a Rough Draft. We'll iron out the wrinkles in the coming weeks.

THE PAPER CAPER

It is my sincere hope that this particular project will induce us to work together as a Team, to bond together in a common cause. This particular project involves a little expenditure of "cashy money". It won't be a lot of money; the cost will be controlled by you. But I urge everyone doing this to get with other BCs in your area, if possible, and Share the time and Expense that it will involve.

The First Part of this Adventure will last Three Weeks, and is in Three Phases:

For the First Phase, place a small, two or three line Ad the day after Thanksgiving in the "Announcements" section of your local Newspaper or perhaps an Ad Sheet, whichever you feel will generate the larger Readership. In the Ad, simply say that Serenity and Firefly are available locally wherever DVDs are sold, and then include an e-mail address for further info (You can use yours, your local BC Group's, or the one that I will be providing). Please run this Ad for a week.

For the Second Phase, simply run a differently worded Ad, saying the same basic thing. The idea is Variety. Anyone seeing the first Ad will be intrigued by a second, different Ad. Please run this one for a week as well.

For the Third Phase, Run a "Recruitment" Ad. Something that will speak to Fans of the 'verse, telling them who to contact to join the Browncoats. Once again, use either an e-mail address of your choosing or the one I will provide.

The Second Part of this Caper will last from Thanksgiving 'til you decide to stop doing it:

Everyone's favorite, Guerilla Marketing!

Simply place Firefly and Serenity themed Fliers in local Department, Video, Electronic and Appliance Stores. Anyplace where DVDs are sold. You can even place them in the Public library! I highly recommend 11th Hour's fine posters for this http://the11thhour.home.att.net/, but feel free to design your own if you want.

If a BC group or individual would rather use a phone # for a contact method, more power to you! As in the AJ, I'd like this to be as flexible as possible. If you can't take the time, or can't meet the expense of the full project, then by all means tailor it to your abilities. The key here is, once again, Numbers. The more people that DO this, the larger the area we cover, the more people become aware, the more DVDs sold.

We CAN do this!

One of the beauties of this plan is, You control the cost. You control how big the Ad is, how long it'll run, etc. In other words, you can find ways to make it fit your budget. The Best way is to get help. Find other Browncoats in your town/area and Recruit their help. With more than one person paying for the Ads and more than one person doing Guerilla Marketing, you'll get more done. It's a great way to get other BCs involved in sending out the Signal.

ps: This idea, this thread is not in "competition" with 11th Hour's viral campaign. They're two sides of the same coin
