Just got back from the San Francisco screening. It's been a long day and we're pretty wiped so I'll keep this short.

So. Much. Good. Stuff.

After everyone was seated, Alan Tudyk and Gina Torres entered to a standing ovation. They thanked all of the Browncoats for helping make the movie possible and then sat down to watch with the rest of us.

There was a really nice opening clip by Joss. When he said, towards the closing, "We've done the impossible and that makes us mighty" I got all emotional. Shorter Joss: It's up to us to keep spreading the word and make this movie a success.

The movie was fantastic! No spoilers here. It was absolutely wonderful to watch the movie in a theater full of Browncoats.

On the drive home, my girlfriend pointed out something I hadn't noticed. You could tell it was an audience of Joss fans because every laugh or clap or cheer was loud and very short, nobody wanted to miss any of the dialogue with sustained noise.

After the movie, Gina and Alan answered questions and then we orderly filed out to receive signed goodies and keychains.

Oh, and Alan did give a shout out to all those who were at the London Con . Gina also, in a response to a question about stardom, complimented Joss fans on how smart we are (I'm not sure what that was in comparison to ).

That's it for now. Gotta get some sleep.

editted to add: Oh, and Shiny's browncoat is very cool. I'm envious.

America loves a winner!

Thanks for the post. Tried in vain to catch it here (Atlanta), but as movie time came around, a few of us were still on the outside with out a ticket. We were hoping for a Cinco de Mayo Miracle of some sort, but alas.....

Hard to believe the rest of us have to wait almost 5 more months. Grrrrrr.

Important people don't do field work.

All I wanna know is, is Gina that hot in real life, because she doesn't seem to go to as many cons as the other guys, and there aren't that many fan pics of her floating around...

Mmmmmm...Gina Torres...

Oh crap, is that Morpheus over there???

(Ducks in slow motion...)

Kaylee: "What's so damn important about being proper? It don't mean nothing out here in the black."
Simon: "It means more out here. It's all I have..."

So, do you choose the BLUE pill, or Gina Torres?

Why oh why didn't you choose the BLUE pill?

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

Thanks for the report Soupcatcher. Those of us not fortunate enough to be in one of the 10 cities chosen appreciate it.

That is so shiny that Alan & Gina showed up for the screening. I hear Adam was at the one in Seattle. You got signed goodies and keychains? I hate you. That seem right to you?

EMBERS

I've been checking online and last night:

Austin had Nathan & Ron
Boston had Sean & Morena
Las Vegas had Joss & Summer
San Francisco had Gina & Alan
Seattle had Adam Baldwin and was supposed to have Jewel but she got a job.

I was in Chicago, so no celebrities there (and not signed goodies, altho we did get key rings!), but I have no regrets.
The movie is amazing, and I am very happy I got to see it and I cannot wait to go see it again (and again) on September 30th!

oh, and the Browncoats in Chicago are a wonderful, warm, friendly bunch...it was great to meet them and enjoy the film with them!

I don't know that I'd ogle Gina too much...I mean, her husband is HIM...you know...The Man...Morpheus...That's a whole lot of fictional character to have pissed off at you. And, thanks to Hong Kong choreography, he knows how to act like he's kickin' your ass!!!

That sucks, AURaptor. Where we were at there didn't seem to be any extra tickets - there were a couple of people that walked the line asking. Universal really underestimated how many Browncoats would've loved to have been able to go to a screening.

Well, I'm biased . I've had a crush on Gina Torres for quite some time (she was actually the reason I was looking forward to Firefly back in 2002 - the only other actor whose name I recognized was Ron Glass and, although my girlfriend is a big Joss fan, I hadn't really watched anything else Whedon had done.). So it's probably better to forward your question to my girlfriend.

Me: Is Gina that hot in real life?
Gf (no hesitation): Yup. Absolutely.

Seems totally right. I'd be doing the same thing if our roles were reversed . It's rare that I can say that something happened to me sheerly through luck, but this is one of those cases - just happened to be online at the right time and close to a city with a screening.

That's one thing I was keeping an eye on during the screening. Firefly is so amazingly rewatchable and I was hoping that Serenity would be as well. No worries there. I will probably be bumping up the number of times I see this movie in a theater in the first four weeks after the release. I was originally thinking ten trips to the cinema. That might be on the smallish side now.

It's good to know that it's that re-watchable. I've only ever seen two movies more than once in the theatre. When "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid" came out in 1969, I went to it twice. For "Chariots of Fire" in 1980, I went four times. Other than those two instances, I've never liked a movie enough to see it multiple times. That said, I was planning on seeing "Serenity" at least ten times. Sounds like that's doable...

Yup, he sounded like he really meant it when he said that it wouldn't have been possible without us fans, that we should feel ownership of the movie, and that therefore if the movie sucks it's our fault! LOL!

It was great to finally meet you and your gf in person, Soup!

Jayne, your mouth is talkin. Might want to look into that.

Pretty simple. Rectangular plastic, with a slip of paper/cardboard inside that has the movie logo with 'Serenity' on one side, and the movie logo with ' www.cantstopthesignal.com' on the other.

Likewise . I'm really glad that I had a chance to meet face-to-face with people who I've enjoyed interacting with virtually.
