The Man They Call Soul...

Somebody there obviously hasn't watched the series yet. The trailer made Serenity nearly top the buzz bin, but it seems like they aren't fans of Joss Whedon, at least not yet.

The link is here: http://movies.go.com/moviesdynamic/buzz

This is what they posted with the news of the trailer for Serenity:

2. Serenity 30-Sep-2005
The trailer proclaims Serenity to be a "unique vision of the future from the mind of Joss Whedon," which sounds awfully pretentious for a sci-fi movie about a band of misfits being chased by a savage race of cannibals.

That's it. Nothing more. Great plug, huh?

Yeah, that review (or whatever they wanna call it) sucks. But considering that the general public will make up their own minds based on word-of-mouth and the actual trailers, I wouldn't worry about movies.com too much. They can be snotty little naysayers if they want...I'll see it a couple more times to make up for the 2 people that will take their review seriously.

I don't think they've even watched the trailer if they're assuming that all it's about is a "band of misfits being chased by cannibals"

I think that this review, sounds awfully pretentious for a sci-fi movie reviewer to say about a movie that they've never seen and has clearly not even seen the trailer.

Where'd they get the second reader?

Well, they liked Batman Begins trailer a lot and call it "COMPLETELY AND UTTERLY AWESOME!!!" Maybe Movies.com people were just a mite unhappy because some Browncoats thought Serenity trailer was better and thus made Batman Begins lose the poll last week.

Personally I have nothing against them calling Batman trailer awesome but surely Serenity trailer was something more than just pretentious.

Well, their "We're watching and rewatching the jaw-dropping new Batman Begins trailer. Have you seen it?" line in the "Buzz Bin" (where it says "The most talked -about upcoming movies") on the left lower side of the starting page clearly shows how objective and unbiased they are.

Maybe they got more money for promoting Batman than for Serenity?

Ah well, there are GOOD movie pages out there as well

See ya,

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

Sure their little blurb may not be all that inspiring, but check out the rating for Serenity on their site:

http://movies.go.com/moviesdynamic/movies/movie?name=serenity_2005&gen
re=scifi&studio=Universal%20Pictures

Scroll down to the bottom right. Vote for it if you haven't already done so.

With 2725 votes in so far the BDM has a 4.89 star rating. 95% of those that voted said they will be there opening night. 2% say it will be worth full price. 1% said they will pay matinee price to see it. The other 1% said they would not be seeing it. So that is 28 people out there floating around we need to convert.

I think it's good to set ourselves targets

As to the rest of the thread (and to those who criticised Empire online's comments last week): chill, people! If you get this worked up over every slightly negative comment re. Serenity, you're going to be pretty exhausted come the end of September. Just because a reviewer or a website expresses a preference for another trailer doesn't necessarily mean they're getting backhanders to screw Serenity over, y'know.

For me, if someone critizes the BDM and has some sort of opinion and explains themselves... to each his own, ya know. But, when someone just trashes something, to one degree or another, for no good reason and/or doesn't really explain why, that irritates me. Especially when it's clear that they've not even really seen the trailer nor know anything about the show.

If I chill more I will catch a cold
For me, getting ballistic over bad reviews is another way to get rid of the excessive energy that is building up during the long wait, since I have to wait until NOVEMBER for Serenity to show in Germany.
*sigh*
Well, maybe it is time for the long planned weekend trip to London in October this year, hehe

Nah, not saying that someone shelves out money to give Serenity a bad review, but to get their own movie in for a good review and hype. And it was a "tongue-in-cheek" comment from me

See ya,

SAINT JAYNE

I've been trying to contact these people to suggest that they actually review the trailer instead of getting all high and mighty about a half-second blurb which happens to be absolutely true. The "contact us" link only leads to a FAQ, so I'll have to improvise...

And since when does 4.89 / 5 only give 4.5 stars?

So, maybe it's not a big deal; but still, it hurts to see someone so ill-informed haphazardly sum-up my movie in one, negative sentence. Hence, I sent them a message urging them to, well, review their review. Here's the link, if anyone else cares to do so: http://movies.go.com/moviesdynamic/mailform

Thanks, I sent them a note. Also told them it's 'Joss' not 'Josh.
