There is a pack of 3, with Mal, Jayne, and bad guy from the movie (don't worry, there's no photo of it, for those who hate spoilers), and a variant Mal with different clothing.

Check out the photos, and place your pre-order...

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

Youch!

$40.00 for 3 figures? $12.99 for one Mal figure??? Seems a bit high to me.

Aren't these going to be mainstream where we can pick them up in chain toy stores? I mean I really want them & will pay this kind of price for them if I have to, but if I can get the same figs cheaper somewhere else than that is what I will do.

Unfortunately, these are created by the company Diamond Select Toys, (and no, I don't work for them) which only sells to a limited number of websites and comic book stores. You won't find these in regular toy stores, because they are high-end figures. They're essentially made for the collector's market.

There's also a good chance that by waiting to place a pre-order you won't be able to buy them at street date because they sell out fast.

And here are some more photos and info:

actually these seem like a really good price.
My 6" BtVS action figures ran about $20-25/each
unless they were sitting on the shelf for a long time at a comic book store,
so I picked up a couple for $10-15
(making 3 for $40 a good price)

Of course the 12" BtVS action figures who came out later
were $35-40 each!

But I really have to stop collecting dolls...

CARDIOVERSION

But the Jayne one looks too cute and squishy! ARRRGH! I just had the best idea! I was so lacking in a hobby last week when I finished studying and I really need something to do I just remembered that around LOTR time I made knitted Frodo. I could do a knitted Firefly crew.
My summer spare time has just been filled.....

Hi, I'm new to the site and big Firefly fan.

I had to speak out on this. So I'll appologize now if it sounds like a rant.
These aren't action figures! They're glorified plactic sculptures made by a company that has a history of over priced "toys" that they feel they can justify by making them "exclusive" to comic shops". They don't even look like the actors. I was hoping for better. It's too great a show to be saddled with these monstrosities.

But that's just my 2 cents.
Great site by the way!!

Gotta say, I'm with you - you'd think they'd try and make them look like the actors!!

I agree Safeat2nd. The quality is not the best in the world, though someone posted not too long ago over at the 'Versal board that Diamond emailed him that the pics are of "prototypes" and the final figures will look better.

I was not aware these are good prices. $12.99 for a 6" figures seems a bit like extortion to me, especially if they are going to limit production and distribution. I know that Suncoast stores have carried the Buffy figs in the past, but I had thought they were cheaper than $13 a piece.

Wow! Can't wait to have Mal battle Darth Sidious while the Jedi Council and some Transformers look on.

No, wait...I'm thirty-one, guess I'll just have to do something more mature. I don't have to be back in court this afternoon, I wonder if its too soon to start drinking.

On a similar note, Diamond Select also created the half-scale replica of the Angel puppet from the episode "Smile Time." I admit I shelled out the hard cash for the thing, only to discover that it's not actually a puppet!! The mouth is hinged so that it opens, but I could've sworn I would be able to put my hand inside Angel and manipulate his puppet parts. (Wow, that sentence was dirty.)

Although much more costly, I prefer the high-end merchandise of Sideshow Toys -- the 12" Spike doll I have is eerily accurate:

Sometimes the Diamond Select sculptors get it right, but most of the time the actor's faces aren't captured as well as they should be. Take a look at one of their Faith figures. It doesn't look anything like Eliza Dushku:

Then again, they get some things right, like Wesley here:

http://store.yahoo.com/timespacetoys/anroffiweexa.html

However, I doubt the photos of Mal and Jayne are going to change. Most likely those are the final versions, since they're pictured with weapons and are dressed and painted.

What's with today's trend of hyper detailed 6" "action figures"? And their prices?? $12.99 US that's close to $15.00 Canadian for a gorram toy!!

These are made for the stereo-typical collector. What happened to toys made for kids?? We all remember fondly the original 3 3/4" Star Wars figures. Why? Because at that scale they could make most of the ships for the figures.

Now I don't know about the rest of you, but as a kid my space universe consisted of a handful of Micronauts, Buck Rogers, Battlestar Galactica and Black Hole figures. You know what made that great? They were all interchangable. I could play with the other kids and their Star Wars figures.

That said, my hope was for 3 3/4" Firefly figures and associated ship playsets. Geared to the kids so we can bring out our old action figures and relive a bit of our childhood through our children. Help them create universes where Kirk, Buck, Han and Mal fight side by side.

Does that make sense?

SAINT JAYNE

Jayne looks like he just ripped packing tape off his hairy chest. If they had a more dynamic and serious look, I would have already paid for them. As it is, I would only think bad thoughts whenever I looked at these figures atop my DVD rack, and I don't need that at $13 a shot. I figure that's more like $20 Canandian.
