I don`t know about Star-Munchkin, but I have Munchkin 1&2 & wondered if anyone had though of creating a firefly based version.

I realise that there`s `Bwah!` being created, but I was thinking of something that would be humourous based. Think of your characters as being `Jayne` type characters and wouldn`t want anything to get in their way of a little wealth

Anybody played Star-Munchkin and can advise on it`s versatility?

Will probably need to create a full set of cards (modify existing to firefly universe)

so ... Feasable? playable? ideas?

Darin (Zol.)

p.s. i`ll be away for 3 days but I`ll read replies on my return

I've been eyeing Star Munchkin for a while myself. I play Dungeoneer, which is sort of a serious version of Munchkin (takes itself a bit too seriously), by Atlas Games instead of Steve Jackson. No space version of that, though.

Munchkin, unfortunately, strikes me as something I CAN'T play with my six-year-old (unlike Dungeoneer, which doesn't involve silly scantily-clad women on the front cover...). How bout Star Munchkin?

And yes, a Firefly version sounds like a very shiny idea!

The two big additions in Star Munchkin are sidekicks, and weapons that stack.

Sidekicks can be sacraficed to monsters that you cant defeat, and have other purposes like +2, or ability to carry more ect
The stackable weapons system, means that you can combibe "laser" based weapons until youve got a
+20 "laserbaserbobasershmazerfaser"

This means its a lot easier to get your character with big weapons and imunity from big monsters quicker, but for balance there are more bad things that you can play on people to counter that, and monsters tend not to ignore low level characters.

I would say if making a Firefly munchkin that star munchkin would be more sutable starting place. Because changes would only have to be small.

hope that helps...

RE: munchkins sutability for a 6 yr old:
There are only two card to my knowledge that could be worth looking at as problems.
The sex change curse, which means you switch sex and are -5 in your next fight due to "distraction", and the amason warior thats on the cover
Star munchkin still has the Amazon warior, but this time you can get past her by giving her a pair of shoes. The sex change is still there as a transporter accident.

I dont think any of the visuals on any of the cards for either version are a big deal, but you could always buy the game and take out cards you dont want her to see.

Its a great game and its really fun, i would really recomend it.

My husband got a set for Christmas, we haven't played it yet though (also got a baby for Christmas, and she's very distracting )!

But I love the sound of a Firefly version! And would definitely be interested in playing it.

We also have a set of Chez Dork, has anyone played the games from this series?

Yeah, I think that you could add in some Firefly cards to Star Munchkin pretty well. We play the Munchkin, Star Munchkin, and Munchkin-Fu sets all together. Hilarious!

Our (now 7 year old) learned alot by playing with us: good gamesmanship, how to read, counting skills, the power of puns...
He's never been bothered with any of the contents, and we've found that it's been a good game to play with family (including in-laws and all thier kids). Certainly more appropriate than Arkham Horror at this stage... though the kid is itching to play in his dad's Chthulu Dark Ages senario next con. Sorry, it's past yer bedtime!
