Her'e another thread to get a kick out of. Of the various non-Firefly performances by any of the nine crew members, which one is your favorite and why?

For me, any performance by Alan Tudyk is gold. When I first started watching the show, he was the only one I recognized. Normally he's in a movie for about five minutes, but he uses the opportunity to just milk it for all it's worth. I think that in time, he'll probably turn out to be like Paul Giamatti. Someone whose a famous character actor in small but memorable parts who'll soon be the lead in some great indie comedies. Of the stuff Alan's done, there's obviously Steve the Pirate off of DODGEBALL, the carnie in HEARTS IN ATLANTIS, and his great guest turn on FRASIER. But my absolute fave is his bit in WONDER BOYS. He was the janitor whom Grady Tripp (Mike Douglas) gives the pot to at the end of the film. I don't know why, but you're interested in the janitor. What his story is and how he fits into the events of the film.

So let's spread the love. What is your favorite non-Firefly performance by a cast member?

HJERMSTED

Jewel Staite in.... well it's a toss up.

Her brief cameo in Dead Like Me was great (playing a randy grim reaper groupy).

But her Wonderfalls appearance (as a ruthless soon-to-be ex-wife) lasted a bit longer and grew on me quickly.

I refuse to decide!
Jewel rocks.
Plus she's Canadian.

Hey Hollywood: More Jewel!!

oh man! i can't believe that i didnt realise that that was alan in Wonderboys. a movie that i have seen AT LEAST 10 times and love muchly, to the chagrin of people who claim to possess 'taste'.

adam baldwin in full metal jacket was pretty damn good, but for a real stinker, check out his performance in "3:15 Moment of Truth". its about this guy (adam) who is a former member of the high school gang, the Cobras, and him taking them on after they threaten to kill him. its very 80s and extremely poor. i reccomend it to anyone
i bought it for 50cents at an op shop.

We could start a very very long thread about Adam's "bad" roles. *LOL*

Morena is awesome in Way Off Broadway.

And who can chill the heart more than Nathan as Caleb?

Yes, Adam is capable of bringing just a little bit of good to some very very bad scripts. We gotta love him for that and his sheer longevity in the industry. And of course the fact that he is a total sweetheart despite being hit in the head with a right wing stick too many times.

I met him a couple weeks ago. Great guy. Would be proud to call him a friend.

BATMARLOWE

Gotta go with Ron Glass as Detective Ron Harris in BARNEY MILLER But I'm willing to bet when Alan is Ron's age, we'll have a long list of notable performances.

KAYLEE4SIMON

Jewel Staite, I think i've seen her on shows since I was little. I think what makes her a great actress is she can play someone dark like Daisy on Higher Ground, and then turn around and play someone cheery like Kaylee.

Keep shiny!

Adam Baldwin In Eric Red's COHEN and TATE in which he co-stared with Roy Sheider. This is a brilliant film sadly overlooked all these years.

well folks, im gonna need the "comprehensive list of must see non-firefly flicks" the only one i have seen/recognised is alan as "wat" in knights tale, the first time i watched it... i must admit was pre-firefly for me... i perved!!!when i watched knights tale at my mothers l week or two AFTER seeing my first eppisode of firefly...well the drool was imbarrasing, so was trying to explain why i was squeeling like a pre-pubescent teen in the throes of a dicaprio fest.

as for adam...

would LIKE to meet him. Great actor. Would be THRILLED to call him a friend

GLORYBE

What about Summer as the Prima Ballerina in Angel. I thought she was incredible. If her name wasn't on the guest stars list or Joss hadn't spoken so much about her on the commentary I wouldn't have known she was the same actress: She was made up as a beautiful ballerina (not that she isn't beautiful without the make up!) and she was speaking with a Russian accent. She was great!

Oh yeah, can't forget her ballet scenes either!
