Point of order. He's back now.

Which isn't to say he's undeserving, of course. Static is the shit.

Although-and someone back me up here-i'm fair sure there's already a 'WE LOVE STATIC' thread. Somewhere.

Which isn't to say he doesn't deserve them both. (he does). I'm just saying.

Anyway, for static!

Yes, he is. His latest blog (and those previous) make that quite clear.
It is the subject matter of that latest blog that make me weak in the knees and kiss inclined.

Browncoats:

Static's profile page is located here:
http://www.fireflyfans.net/showprofile.asp?u=4269
His latest blog entry is on that page.

Doubt that he'd want a 'smooche' from me; but the men in my family do (French descent), and I would, for how he handled that situation. In any case, I offer a slightly rusty salute (5 years lack of practice).

Still, a shame about the being an officer thing...

Respectfully,

zoid

thanks for starting this thread knibblet
(good catch on seeing Static's blog)
and thank you, Zoid, for the link...

that is one beautifully expressed blog

my father was an officer in the Pacific during WWII
he never talked to anyone about his experiences,
he suppressed it all,
and it started to come out when my Mother was in the hospital once
(when they were both elderly)
see, he REALLY couldn't deal with her dying...
so he started to talk about all the other dying that he'd witnessed during the war
very disturbing stuff.

It is heartbreaking that so many of our best,
smartest, most deserving young people are suffering...
I am really happy that you are able to 'be there' for this one young woman.

Agreed. It just seems such a waste of prime enlisted material.

And Embers:
Suffering goes hand-in-hand with biology, and Life is incurable: we all eventually die of it. I think Static would agree, and so would your father, that some sacrifices cannot be avoided. The key for the military member is to focus on the goal, not on the Self. That's harder to do today than it was when my father and uncles served; our culture has become increasingly egocentric.

That goal is self-evident: Every person in the world has the inalienable right to Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness (God bless ya', TJ). The people of the Middle East are awakening to this as a possibility for the first time in their lives; a tangible reality that can be attained for themselves and their children. But first, the iron heel of despotism and terrorism must be removed from their throats. The indigo thumbs of the Iraqi citizens shows their heroism and bravery, and that the sacrifices of our young men and women are not in vain.

As we (hopefully) turn the corner on this latest challenge -- because Freedom will always eventually prevail, if we'll fight for Her virtue -- our role as civilians should be to support our troops and honor their sacrifices for the rest of their lives. I'm talking about respect. But like 'chivalry' and 'selflessness', I fear that may be only another lost concept from our rapidly fading past.

Respectfully,

zoid

My understanding is that Mr. Jefferson had a preference for ladies of decidedly 'dusky complexion', as the saying went, not redheads (or whatever color you're sporting this week). So, I think your virtue would be safe with that particular Founding Father.

Although, you know the olde saying: "In the darke, sometimes crackers get eaten and crumbs get in betweene the sheets; but ye don't have to sleepe on the floore because of it, unless there's just more roome."

Historically,

zoid

P.S.
On the other hand, George Washington (who famously slept everywhere, much like Tom Jones) once said, "Delaware girls are easy." But I'm sure he was quoted out of context...

Tom Jones and Static - both do it for me although I'm not sure how Static's version of "Kiss" would be. He could use The Pussy Cat Dolls as backup singers instead of The Art of Noise.

It's really quite funny that you would bring this up, Needleseye, because I did that very thing once. Static was kind enough to send my thong back to me washed and ironed. Which was a feat unto itself because of the fringe--it was not even tangled! He's amazing.

I am definitely feeling the love in this thread
(is it a little hot in here? Or is it just me?)

BTW congratulations on the de-commisioning and band thing Static!
A friend's nephew is headed home from Iraq this month,
the whole family is gathering to celebrate
they could definitely use a band playing
maybe even a parade!

That's me. . .

I do laundry,

I'm a very skilled cook,

I sing and play the saxophone,

I can live without televised sports, but at the same time, I can thoroughly enjoy them if that's what the lady prefers,

I write poetry,

I can be tough as nails,

And I'm not too hard on the eyes.

I'm not sure that I believe it. Until I saw a hockey game in person i never EVER watched sports. Now I'm a sad girl with no hockey season. I'm not sure how long I'mgoing to last.

There might not be NHL hockey, but there's plenty of hockey to be had! This Friday, I'll be at Ridder Arena to watch the University of Minnesota's Women Gophers kick the snot out of Providence. GO GOPHERS!!!!!!!!!

Speaking of Gophers, good luck to the men too :)

See. . .I was a skinny, bespectacled geek all through High School. I work my backside off every day to stay in the shape I'm in now. . .so I don't mind letting my humility waver on occasion.

As long as I need to. For the things that interest me, I'm satisfied to check the scores online later that day or the next.

I DO, however, love to see Manchester VS. Liverpool in the English Football Cup.

who doesn't? Such a shame Liverpool didn't make it past the 3rd round. So who do you think will take it? Man U is up against Newcastle, right? And Arsenal is likely to take the Rovers. I say Man U all the way.
