Gina Torres as Storm?

Is it just me? Or would Gina Torres rock as Storm in the next X-men movie? Especially since as I understand it Halle Berry has said she isn't interesed in doing X3.

I've never been a big fan of Halle Berry, to be honest, so definitely, i think Gina Torres would be better.

Then again, and not to take anything away from GT, I have a 6 year old next door neighbor who I think is a better actress than Halle Berry, and I think SHE would be a better Storm than HB, too...

she would also be great as Wonder Woman (IMO)

I sat thru the torture that is Catwoman last night. I really can't stand HB right now...give me some time to like her again. Well, I never cared for her acting anyway.

I'm holding out hope for Gina in WW. Not that she wouldn't be wonderful as Storm, but she's ready to move beyond ensemble---or should I say I am ready for her to move beyond ensemble.

absolutely! Storm has always struck me as having an amazingly strong character. She has strenght of purpose/will that HB just never brought to the screen. GT always brings this to her characters, so yeah, good call. Hey If Joss ends up doing X3 maybe somebody could suggest her.

My only concern with Gina playing Storm is that... please forgive me... I don't think Gina's accent work is all that great (from what little I've heard). I don't know how good her African accent would be, but I didn't like her Russian one.

Other than that, give Halle the boot, Gina's the one to go with.

Well, it's not like Halle's Storm had the "African Accent" either. That's an aspect missing from Storm in the movies. She's been written as "Chick what controls the weather" not "African Storm Goddess."

Sure GT could do it. But my first choice for Storm would have been Iman. I reckon she's more'n a little long in the tooth for the part but it would have come off pretty good in my humble opinion.

They do it, yes, but why do it if you don't have to? Storm played a pretty limited part in both the other two films - I'd prefer to see her removed and preserve visual continuity than to see another actress in the role.

Really?

I think Gina is beyond a minor role like Storm. Sorry but these Xmen films have little but basic characterisation. I'd be very disappointed to see Gina as Storm because frankly her talents would be wasted. Unless of course a script and/or director actually bother to invest in some time in developing character.
However lets face it, that'll never happen on account of style and action set-pieces always prevail in superhero films.

Anything has to be better then Halle's accent during the movies. Half the time she sounded jamacian and then the other half of the time she sounded like she was from new york or somewhere else. I don't think she did a good job, I'd like to see someone else as the part whether it be Gina or another acress. Gina does have her foot in the door though if she wants the part, Whedon has ties to Marvel now after all.

A couple of months ago I posted a thread about who I'd like to see in X-men roles. The only character i wanted recast was Storm, and Gina was my favourite to replace Halle. Halle did a terrible job of playing Storm. Her accent was atrocious, and she didn't capture any of Storm's grace, poise and strength, attributes that Gina has in spades. Imagine the grace of Jasmine combined with the strength of Zoe. That's the storm I want to see. I don't want them to write the character out either, because I like Storm far too much.
