SLAYERFEST

Hey guys.

You may have read (and read and read...) about the shindig being organised in Grimsby this coming weekend. The event is looking good in terms of organisation but the ticket sales could do with a "lift". I am just appealing to anyone who lives within driving distance of Grimsby to consider coming. I have the local press and radio interested and the local cinema is interested in doing something around the time of the premiers IF there is a modicom of success at this event. All eyes are watching to see if the Browncoat rebellion is going to achieve results.

We already have Fox, UIP and the BDHs themselves on our side but I really, really need to show that the British Browncoats live places other than London.

So once again, if you can make it to our shindig its called Independents' Day and will be on from 7 - 11pm at the Caxton Theatre in Grimsby. We will have a fantastic raffle, an awesome auction, a special fx make-up demo and loads of big screen entertainment for you guys all for the measly sum of £4. Telephone 01472 346251 to book a ticket or turn up at the door. All profits are going to charity.

Thanks for reading.

Andy

Thought Id give this a little bump back to the top, its been a while since Ive posted on here.

I got your email a couple of weeks back sorry for not replying Ive been real busy recently. Im hoping that I'll be able to attend but I still have a few conflicts that I need working out first. The shindig is sounding good though, I'll send you an email tomorrow to discuss details of the event should I be able to attend.

Please excuse my stupidness for the time it takes to ask my question.

Where is Grimsby?

I'd look for it on a map but I've left mine in the car and I'm too lazy to look on the web!

Yeah like Trask says, Grimsby is pretty much in the middle of England on the East Coast. It ain't pretty but its home at the moment! Its maybe an hour and a bit from Sheffield, Leeds, Hull, Lincoln, Nottingham etc. It is SO easy to get here as its all motor way (M1, M18, M180) except for the last few miles on the A180. That road ends up outside the front door to the theatre.

I know its accessible to all those places as I often drive TO them for a night out myself!

Hope to see you here Trask!

Just thought I would mention the fact that this event finally got mentioned in the local press here in Grimsby tonight with nearly a half page feature and a colour picture of Summer. Hopefully the public will be drawn to the article! But I still need Browncoats to join us. Please feel free to attend, you can even buy your tickets on the door.

As I've just got back back from the pub, I shall do what I always do when drunk, ie. make a promise that I don't always keep and often can't even remember...

See you there!

Steve,
I appreciate the gesture and hope that we'll see you here and sober on Saturday! Of course you don't have to stay that way unles you are driving! There is a very reasonably priced bar at the theatre!

Could you confirm that my four tickets are being held at the door. I don't fancy driving all that way to find I can't get in.

Thanks.

Wren, thanks for your query. I have not put 4 tickets aside but there will be no problem with you getting in. If you have any problem just ask to see me, it will be fine. You WILL get in.

Andy

ps Just to let people know that the first attendees at the event will get free copies of Still Flying the Firefly fanzine.

I would love to come along, but really, for someone who has only just started driving regularly, a trip up to Grimsby, probably in the snow, sounds a little scary to me...

I hope you all have a great time though, and that it takes off if there is media interest!

My heartfelt thanks to all the Browncoats who made it to Independents' Day in Grimsby. We were a small but select band, but I hope everyone who went had a blast and I hope we see some of you at Bradford now you have the details of the event! Others I hope to see at Serenity the following month. Here's to the Northern Browncoats!!!!

Also special thanks to those who helped by sending stuff I could use. Jeremy, if you read this... your posters went down a storm thank you so much. 11th your guerilla marketing posters and flyers were a huge success. Dave, we shifted around 30 copies of Still Flying Issue 3 and people are asking where and when they can see the next issue!

And the good news is, I am sure there will be and Independents' Day 2 now, so keep your eyes peeled.

I just wanted to report that the Grimsby Firefly event - Independents' Day - raised around £150 for the Caxton Theatre's Youth Theatre project. Many thanks to all who supported it by attending or by giving moral support and encouragement. It was pretty well attended for the first event of its kind in the UK and will hopefully be the first of our Firefly events at the Caxton Theatre. Hopefully, we will see a few more of you here next time!

I'm glad the event was a success. Sorry I didn't show (looks sheepish).

No worries Steve! Hopefully when we run ID2 you will be able to join us for that one. I will announce it on the boards as and when we can arrange it. Thanks for the moral support anyhow.
