It's another FANTASTIC show that has been canceled. Supposedly it is being shopped to SciFi and WB. I'm notholding my breath though. I bought my wife the first season on DVD and we did a marathon last weekend hehe. Which will soon be followed up by a FF marathon this weekend hehehe.

I was fortunate enough to have Showtime when this show was still on the air, and found it absolutely delightful. This actually leads me to a dilemma, which (hopefully I'm not hijacking this thread) my fellow Browncoats can help resolve.

I am dating a very funny and sarcastic young lady, whose birthday is this coming month. Hmm... I'd better figure out what day exactly. But still, sometime in Feb. My question to you all: Should I give her the Wonderfalls DVD, or Dead Like Me? Both protagonists are eerily similar to my girlfriend, and I'm sure she would like either. It's been bothering me immensely. Does anyone have a thought on this?

Additional background: She was raised Catholic (moreso than myself, even), and is therefore pretty anti-religion. Both programs deal with the hereafter and a higher power in some form or another, but in a tongue-in-cheek enough way that I don't think it'll turn her off of either. Still, this makes me lean a bit more towards Wonderfalls. Maybe. Obviously, there's a bit of indecision here.

Any leanings here? I loved both the shows, and may end up buying both DVD sets. So I'm having a hard time deciding.

... you should have seen how hard she laughed when Mal kicked Crow into that engine. ehehe...

I agree, I think you'll end up buying both. So my suggestion is that the initial purchase is Wonderfalls, only so that the relatively unknown show gets a boost. Both are Bryan Fuller creations, full of meaty goodness.

It was ok. Sometimes it was just a bit too quirky, but it was enjoyable nonetheless. First season probably could have been better with more of a budget.

I thought that it was funny and interesting. I would rent the first season from Netflix or buy it in a store.

Also, Jewel shows up on disk four of the first series. She has a bit role as a music store salesgirl who has sex with Mason. She plays a goth girl who digs the fact that Mason is a reaper. It's funny and reminiscent of Kaylee and sex.

Unfortunately, it looks like season two was the end of the series. Showtime has not picked it up for a third season.

i hate to disagree with Purplebelly, but i would say Dead Like Me. It was, and still is, in my season pass manager. i hold out hope that a season will air.

Maybe I just didn't get a chance to fully enjoy the two episodes of Wonderfalls i caught.

Damn didn't know that it wasn't picked up for 3rd season.

Unfortunate that they wasted so much opportunity. Very funny show but sadly they progressed the overall story in two seasons as much as some shows progress theirs in 2 episodes.

Purplebelly's view may have been influenced by seeing all thirteen episodes of Wonderfalls that will be published as the DVD, though as less than perfect copies and not in glorious wide-screen.

EDIT: Good as it is, that's still no excuse for not buying DLM too

I swear to God, eventually you are going to see me on the news, SWAT team on hand, trying to pry my hands off some network exec's pasty little neck- Firefly, Wonderfalls, DLM might seriously be the last straw- It was the first show after FF went off the air that I could really call my favorite show-
But hey, I notice Newlyweds and Simple Life got picked up again- Maybe I should give myself a home lobotomy and dumb myself down enough to enjoy reality TV instead of actually finding good shows that make you think- Because every time I do, they get canned- bastards -

Yeah we had DLM season 1 on Sky here in the UK.

Fantastic!!!

My wife asked sky when we are likely to get season 2 - but they say they have no plans at present to show it????!!! NO PLANS?!?!?!!??!! WHY THE HELL NOT?!!?!?!??!

So..... as we can't rely on them, we downloaded every episode of season 2 and had a marathon 15 episode day last saturday!

Now we are in withdrawl.....sigh ......... at least Arrested Development is still going .........

Oh yeah.... "Kaylee" is in the last episode of DLM season 1 - but you probably all knew that

I have added some of my DLM fan art if anyone is interested - along side my Firefly fan art from a while back.

Its on my own website, as its not really firefly related, and it would be out of place in the Blue Sun Room.

Hope you can take a look:
