The Man They Call Soul...

Okay, I've been reading alot lately about all of the people who once posted here but now have faded into memory, so I decided to create a thread where everyone can come to remember those people that are gone away, and maybe lure a few of them back into our little world. We're a family here, and once you post here, you're family, too.

So let's begin with the memories and do our darndest do bring back all those who have "dissapeared".

Gunhand.

Although, I suspect he's jumping out of black helicopters, somewhere in the Third World, even as I write this...

Ahhh! Traveling to exotic, foreign lands; meeting new people; and then silently garroting them. It's so romantic, don't you think?

Either that, or he's busy punching cattle, on a bender, holed up in an underground bunker, running a separatist enclave, or he got married...

She: "What do you think you're doing, Honey?"

He: "Oh, I was just gonna get on-line for a minute and check out my buddies on FFFN."

She: "Oh, no you're not. Aren't I your best friend? Aren't I enough for you?" *Eyes begin to well up with big, fat teardrops*

He: "Of course you are, Pookie-Snookums! But, I -"

She (clearing unspilt teardrops from eye with forefinger, once again totally composed): "C'mon. Enough of that nonsense. Come on over here and help me with my knitting."

He (dejectedly holding out hands to accept skein): "Yes, Darling."

And every night, he quietly weeps himself to sleep, longing for his lost FFFn friends... (zoid wipes tear from cheek.) Sorry... *sniffle* It's just so heart-wrenching, isn't it?

Mercenarily,

zoid

I suspect that, if you're correct in your little dialogue skit, Gunny may perhaps find a black helicopter to jump out of... or, if you're wrong, he may steer that helicopter in YOUR direction, garrot in hand...

Also--

I've not seen Astriana in quite a while, any word from her?

Even though I was formerly missing until last night, I would also like to miss Gunhand. And ElwoodMom. With our mom, things are likely to turn ugly faster and faster and who will send us to our rooms so we are forced to watch Firefly for hours on end and do other things that involve house and hours in our rooms?

And Neroli, although she posted a couple times in the thread dedicated strictly to ME. From her walker-based computer terminal.

And Delia. She has (had?) a wonderful, spritely good humor.

It is true that the hottness of Mal-licious could be used as a devastating weapon. We are lucky, in fact, that Mal is as benevolent as she is.

There has been some speculation concerning the identity of the fifth gynecologist. The consensus, I believe, is that he or she is nothing more than an Alliance spy working undercover.

The Luscious 'Licious admitted:
Quote:

I never saw Bladerunner...

You never... Wha?!

What are you, some sort of Communist? A spy? Someone with forged citizenship papers?

Hmmm. Seriously, though, I don't know if many feminine types gravitate to Bladerunner, at first blush. It's got Harrison Ford (c. 1982) as the antihero cop and Rutger Hauer is excellent as the main 'anti-antagonist'. Ridley Scott directed, 'nuff said. Soundtrack/original score by Vangelis. Very dark and rainy, visually. Not too subtle anti-slavery and anti-corporation subtext. Primarily an action sci-fi flickering picture. It was ahead of its time in 1982, and doesn't look too dated today.

Get the Director's Cut. The theatrical release version is clearly inferior, and Scott was so pi$$ed he almost had them take his name off it. The Director's Cut is brilliant. You might consider renting it, if for no other reason than to be conversant with one of the greatest science fiction movies ever filmed.

Sheesh. Next you'll be saying you've never seen Outland, the science fiction remake of "High Noon", starring Sean Connery...

Incredulously,

zoid

P.S.
And for any guys who may have been living under a rock in the same garden as 'Lish: Bladerunner's got pre-skinny, pre-crazy Sean Young (achingly beautiful in this), Joanna Cassidy gets fairly spectacularly naked, and Darryl Hannah shows off some of the gymnastics training she had before becoming an actress. Well, okay, before she started 'appearing in movies', then.

P.P.S.
Rob Zombie's "More Human Than Human" is a tribute to Bladerunner and features Roy Batty's infinitely menacing line, "I want more life, f*cker."

My soon-to-be-ex loved Bladerunner and had it on VHS taped from TV. I lost interest rather quickly, as one might expect. I will comtemplate renting the director's cut.

Mmmm-a-licious:

Yes, Belgian guys in Daisy Dukes are catnip. Jean-Clod Van Dammit is tres masculine. A modern-day Rock Hudson.

I reckon I've got a better chance of dating him than you do...

Speedo-ly,

zoid

P.S.
On the other hand, I've always thought Ellen DeGeneres was attractive. So, there ya' go...

Wow, you sound JUST like Gunhand. But if you do date him, can you put in a good word for me?

Do you really think so? I've been working on that impersonation for weeks. It's hard to get the facial expression and vocal inflection just right...

You must have a much higher tolerance for Brylcreem and oil-based perfumes on a man, than most women do. Smell-o-vision. (At least, I hope that stuff is Brylcreem.)

I miss Clandestiny. He got the NYC Meet-up together and got us to to go the MOH PA Shindig.
I wish he would come back to our group and to the boards. Don't throw the baby out with the bath water, Clandestiny....

I miss seeing her around the boards and on the taglog.

Okay, I've never seen Blade Runner or Outland! I will be sure to put them on my Netflix list so I don't have to hang my head in shame around here.

Seriously, it's like talking to Gunhand's CLONE. He HATES JCVD.

{Best Sally Fields voice}You missed me! You really missed me!{/Sally}

I been around, mostly lurking-like and usually only posting in the RP threads, 'cause of my RL stuff. But I've been missing you guys, too. *sniff*

( ...and for those wonderin' about Channain, she's still about too - just got lots to do with the new school schedule an' all... )

Mal-Lady:

I do not necessarily hate Jean-Clod V.D.; but he's certainly not on my top 1000 list of people I'd like to have lunch with. ('with whom I'd like to have lunch'?) The few interviews and related news articles I've seen of the guy indicate he's a vacuous tool, even by Gallic standards. I like to think of him as the Euro-trash male equivalent of Darryl Hannah: He's that good an actor, with the personality to match his talent.

And has he made a movie in which he didn't do a split? I don't think so. It's his signature, ala The Arnold's "I'll be back". Guy doing split = male gymnast = Clay Aiken. Let's just say I'm unapologetically Zhon-Clod-o-phobic, and leave it at that; I fear the animal magnetism he represents.

Now, I gotta go barf...

Queasily,

zoid

P.S.
I'm gonna start a thread titled, "People You'd Like To Have Lunch With", in a minute or two. You can play, and nominate J-C VD, or just hijack as usual.

Oh, my goodness, no! He's an ass! I'm talking about the character he played in Timecop. He was just really nice to look at, both the young and the "old" versions. But in real life? Nah.

Yeah, I've kind of fallen into the lurking pattern more myself. It's going to be hard to keep up the momentum over the next eight months.
