I can't remember where I saw it, but I did read somewhere that the Serenity trailer was in the Elektra movie. So off I went to see Elektra.

NO TRAILER! BOO!

I want my $13.00 back! Elektra by herself just wasn't worth it!

(just to mention, I am in Canada; maybe the announcement I read was for the US. Still. Boo.)

sorry that happened to you yeah, it was announced a little while back that since Serenity had been moved back, the trailer wouldn't be attached to Elektra. It will be attached to Hitchikers Guide to the Galaxy instead...or last I heard!

Yeah, Biku. Come on, as a Firefly fan you should already know this!

Guess you didn't keep up as you should.

No sympathy from this corner.

Should Universal consult with you first?

Biku:

Well, I do have sympathy for you. You had heard right: The trailer was going to be shown with Elektra; but as others have said, when Serenity got moved from April 20th to September 20th -- you've heard that, right? -- the trailer got moved back to THGttG, too. If you'd checked this board (General Discussions) and read the "I almost feel sorry for Elektra" thread, you certainly could've saved yourself some cash.

But... Since you didn't read and heed, and did waste the cash: How was Elektra? We're all just dying to know, and waiting the 3 months (2? 1?) for it to come out on DVD seems an eternity.

You could post a review here, on the thread you began, or look down the page a little and post it under "I almost feel sorry for Elektra".

It's tough to keep up with the latest info, I know. And it's tough you spent your hard-earned cash needlessly. So, I'll sign off...

Sympathetically (truly),

zoid

Sorry for your wasted money. HHGttG is a great place to push Serenity though. We get to see a good movie (I hope) and see the trailer!

You mean September 30th. Just don't want anyone to have the wrong date :).

I guess I should have been paying a bit more attention, but I don't really follow the boards, just the headlines. So I knew Serenity had been pushed back, but didn't make the jump in logic that maybe the trailer had been pushed back as well. My bad. Actually, Elektra's bad, I guess--the movie could have used some help.

I'll be brief with the review: it was better than Daredevil. But I still felt like the director was standing behind my chair with a 2x4 that said "PATHOS" and was whackin' me over the head with it. Repeatedly. "See? She's a TORTURED CHARACTER!" (whack whack) "She has a PAINFUL CHILDHOOD MEMORY!" (whack whack) "Her Dad was TOO HARD ON HER!" (whack whack). Ouch, I get it.

Had I known about the trailer transfer, I think I would have at least waited until Elektra was out on video before considering it. Ah well. At least the economy got stimulated.

I've heard that her costume is enough to get more than the economy stimulated. *snerk*

No. I meant September 20th, 'coz that's when I start camping out at the theatre. I plan on staying until they either let me see it early in a private screening after hours, or have me arrested. To avoid the arrest option, I'll offer to 'upgrade' all the software on the manager's computer.

Yes, the public release is on the 30th. I don't know why, but I keep thinking the 20th (of July, preferably). You know, the theatres actually get the films a week or two early, and they sit in storage until the premiere date. I've just got to figure out a way to properly bribe or extort a projectionist...

Thoughtfully,

zoid

Why don't you just get a job at a local first run theater at the beginning of September and then quit after you've seen the movie? That way, you get to see the movie AND get paid! Then when it is officially released, you use the money you earned to buy your first ticket. It may have to be a matinee, but what the heck. Problem solved.

Oh and I just reviewed your last 8 posts and hmmmm! I found NO mention of ME. What do you think of that?

So, you missed my sniveling attempt at atonement over on the "Thread Dedicated Strictly to Mal-licious", then? My last post featuring an homage to you (which shall remain unidentified) struck me -- upon further review -- as being a bit over the top, even by my standards. Since it was met with thundering silence, I figured I'd really stuck my elbow in it this time, and just stifled myself thereafter.

And the working at a theatre idea would be cool, except for the pay cut, and resulting loss of domicile and transportation. Still, I'd be willing to do it, so long as I could figure out how to 'disappear' the film from the theatre and into my possession.

Not that I've got a suitable projector; but, one problem at a time, I always say...

Respectfully,

zoid

P.S.
There's a program on Neanderthals on DiscSci right now; so I'll tap dance more in 30 minutes or so, if required.

It is imperative that I read this IMMEDIATELY!

A show about neanderthals? Is this a home movie?

I like to think so. My pet theory is that everyone who has an artistic inclination got it from Neanderthalensis. Cro-Magnon only gave us aggression and lust for conquest.

The show just ended. Now, it's dinosaurs ("The Mystery of the Jurassic"). My pet theory: They became birds.

Love Always,

Uh, that would be me.

Deft sidestepping of my demand to read that other post, by the way! Well done! I still want to read it.

'Lishus:

As a wise man once said, "And if wishes was horses, we'd all be eatin' steak." No. If it managed to sneak under your radar on the first pass, we'll just leave it there. It was very subtle anyway. Perhaps so subtle that you even read it, and it just blew right past ya'. Just as well.

So here's something not so subtle: Were I not married (to a woman I'd sooner cut off all my pinkies than cause the slightest hurt), I'd chase you all around the flying, floating, tree-boat-airship thing. ...Because you're pretty.

Sincerely,

zoid

P.S.
I have you at a disadvantage. I've seen pictures of you, while you have never seen pictures of me. And if you're very, very lucky, you never will. Think of a cross between John Wayne and Gérard Depardieu, but with none of the aesthetically redeeming features. One of my detractors on this board once snidely remarked that I had 'rugged good looks'; well, he got the rugged part right...

I can actually wait until the 30th, since that's my birthday. I'll probably get to see it with a bunch of friends. It'll be the best birthday I've had in a long while :).

I LOVE to play tag! As adults, we don't get to do fun things like that very often. I, for one, think it's a shame. We should have playgrounds for adults, rather than fitness centers! I heard a DJ the other day say he saw a woman circling the parking lot at the gym looking for a close spot. Is that ridiculous or what? Too lazy to WALK from the car to the door, but going in to exercise! Too funny.
