Unsure if this has been posted here yet, so I'll pass it on - from Chris Buchanan;

Someone may have already said this above this reply, but the premieres are usually Mon, Tues, Wed. prior to the movie’s opening. That being said, all kinds of things can alter the standard MO.

(1) Universal could change the release date. Not possible you say? (wink wink, nudge nudge, he knowingly said.) Short of being a tentpole, "mark it in your calendar’s two years ahead" Spiderman 2 kind of movie, the date’s not too firm until a month before the release date. Trust me, it could change again.

(2) Premieres can be charity events that change the timing (even the city) of the event.

(3)Etc.

Basically, don’t buy those plane tickets yet.

We’ll keep you Browncoats informed of the latest details (as we did about the April to Sept. change.)

Best,
Buchanan

Thanks! When it comes out, it might be the first premier I've ever stood in the stands to see and I've lived in the LA are my whole life.

Well, that's not really any big worry to me. I mean, changing the date is bad, but this doesn't sound like "hey, the date we're on now isn't firm at all, expect a change", it sounds more like, "hey, it's Hollywood, so you never know.'

Which is true enough, but doesn't really say much.

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

So the possibility exists, but it is not definite. No problem.

Hi

On the release date topic...

They have eventually updated the release date on the French UIP webpage.

It says: Serenity - on the screens November 2., 2005

Not bad :-)

ETA: I am a case of missing brain, hence the wrong month.

November the 2d is baaaaad. How can I wait one MONTH? How can I stay away from the Net for one month?

Apparently, they changed the date again, and we all missed it, because it was a retroactive release.

"Serenity" was released on November 12, 2004, and no one was told. The film pulled in $37 at the U.S. box office.

FOX executives were ecstatic--"See??? We told you no one liked this show, we were right to cancel it two years ago! Never doubt our intelligence again!"
