Jewel and the cast got to see Serenity, and she has posted about it in her blog at http://users.ev1.net/~alternity/tv/jewel_staite/Jewel.html Rrrrr! I wanna see it too! But it seems as if it is looking really good, even in this preliminary stage, from what Jewel and Adam are saying. Yay.

Mighty shiny! Just gets me that much more amped for the movie. Just hope she doesn't hold me to that peeing my pants in anticipation thing. I will definitely do that before the flim...ain't no way I'm getting up in the middle of it!

Okay, so here's a bit of info she reveals, I guess:

Select to view spoiler:

Looks like it's two hours long

So, do people approve of that choice, if it's true? Should it be more?

Oh, that's a mean question...

Of course it should!!! No, shut up - Joss knows what he's doing. If it's two hours IT ISN'T LONG ENOUGH! Shut up and get with the program, here! Longer! Must be the space dementia. Joss has a story to tell, and if it's that long, then that's how long it is. Period. Bull Shut up Make me! {*POW*}

ow ow

Damn space dementia...

Thanks! I read Jewels brief comments and am hopeful. 2 hrs long, eh? Not sure if I should hold her to that or not, as things have a way variating a bit over time.

I don't mind 2 hours long. You know...as long as we get the directors cut 40 - 100+ hours long on dvds later.

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

Jewel is so unbelievably cool!

Glad to hear she got to make the screening.

Reading her comments, along w/ Adams, really gets the excitement level up on the BDM. The anticipation is building.

Come on September!

So what if it's only 1/3d the length it should be? Remember, it's also true of movies: It ain't the size of the boat, it's the motion in the ocean...

At least that's what I always tell the girlies.

As Alfred Hitchcock once said, "A movie should be as long as the tolerance of one's bladder." Personally, I never drink anything before or during a film so that nature won't call during the middle of a film, but that's good advice.

Two hours is fine with me. Hell, two minutes of it would whet my appetite.

Given the delay in the release, I think what I'll do for now is just watch the leaked Serenity Comic Con trailer again and again and again...maybe I can string it together into two hours of looping :)

Maybe not. But it's interesting to note that you have Wash for your avatar. I'm pretty sure he'd agree with me (and so would Zoe). More so than dimensional attributes, it's attitude that matters. 'Knowing all the steps', as Wash put it.

I reckon Wash is like me: He can play a mean game of chess and speak at least three languages fluently. Put those skills together and you'll have the ladies on their heels...

And I reckon that the reason you feel the need to defend yourself is maybe a little experience with the not-true-ness mentioned above!

This could well be a dumb question - but where is the leaked trailer? not on the 'full video' i downloaded from this site.

Sorry - didn't mean to start a rumor. I'm referring to the very, very short teaser they aired at Comic Con (and a couple other places, I think), and someone managed to get a poor quality copy of on a videocamera. The file circulated quite a bit when it first came out, but I suppose it's not something Universal is happy that people are watching - the video quality is poor enough that only fans are probably that interested in it :)

Calhoun:

Thanks for quoting me and (dubiously) Dr. Westheimer in the same post. Although, if you'll look at my quote, it was playfully making the statement that the BDM -- regardless that it was only 2 hours long ("1/3d the length it should be") -- should not be judged strictly by its length, but by the magic contained within those 2 hours. Since I used a veiled sexual reference (I doubt anyone below the age of 17 would have readily sussed it, as originally stated), I poked fun at myself -- rather than, say, you -- in an attempt to defuse any unpleasant feelings it might engender in those readers able to discern it.

Apparently, some saw only the sexual reference, instead of a (I thought, very apt) metaphor for the movie. Ah, well. Rule 1A: Never over-estimate your audience. While you state you "always imagined (me) as a girlie", I always imagined you as a thoughtful, intelligent fan of Firefly. Looks like we were both wrong.

If you want to know the truth of my particulars, just go to my profile page. Between those exterior details and my hundreds of long-winded, heart-felt, and/or irreverently flippant posts on this board, you can get an idea of who I truly am: The good, the bad, and the ugly. You -- and many others -- don't list whether you are a boy or a girl, or your age, et cetera on your profile pages. What are you hiding for? I can't even tell if I'm taking this sniper fire from a male or a female. If you're a guy, I have one response; if you're a gal, I have another.

I have many weaknesses and faults for you to poke fun at, you just haven't found one yet. Keep at it 'til you get it right, if you wish; this isn't fun, yet, mostly just disappointing.

I'd prefer to be friends -- or at least cordial -- with everyone I meet; but, I'm really good at "the other thing", as InevitableBetrayal put it, and at all the 'other things', too. So if you're itching for a fight(?), regrettably, you've come to the right place to get as bloody as you'd like... But I'd sooner skip the exercise, as it will undoubtedly prove futile and destructive to all concerned.

Sadly,

zoid

Sorry Calhoun, that quote is actually attributed to "Doctah Roof" a character in Robin Williams 'Live at the Met' performance concert. Doesn't make it any less funny though.

Just my $0.02, a man should know how to operate in either the kitchen or the bedroom. As my old roommate used to say, "if you can't cut the mustard you had better be able to lick the bottom of the jar."

Whoa! where did that all come from?

I sincerely wasnt trying to insult you or make fun of you or whatever else you are insinuating.. I was just making the comment that you have River as an avatar so I thought mistakenly that you were female...Sheesh! You sure bitch like a female( I'm kidding!!)

Is it possible Succatash doesnt really look like his avatar like I had imagined?

Anyways Zoid you are obviously far superior to me in textual jousting so I surrender.

(psst, anyone else think Zoid was a bit harsh on me?)

Apology accepted. The slight, whether real or imagined, is forgotten.

And yes, it's possible I may have been a bit harsh. I guess it just goes to prove I may at least be enough of a guy to snort and paw at the ground when challenged. My proud-to-be-an-Ugly-American motto, in the words of the immortal John Wayne, from "The Shootist":
Quote:

I won't be wronged. I won't be insulted. I won't be laid a hand on. I don't do these things to other people, and I require the same from them.

Guess we know where I stand on foreign policy, too.

As to the River avatar, if you're honestly curious: When I first enrolled on FFFn, I entered my personal details on my Profile page and then chose River, because I felt (from about the middle of S1) that she was going to be the focus of Firefly, had it been allowed to continue. Firefly's main character is Mal; it's his story. But River is the force that drives the conflict.

Like I've said elsewhere, I identify most with Book; but River and I share a certain flair for pattern recognition. For that reason, she fascinates me the most of all the characters, especially since I think Joss may have gotten the 'curse of genius' aspect right. We'll have to wait and see about that...

Peaceably,

zoid
