to take thatweirdgirl's thread one step further, any concerts that you would pay big $$ to see? any that you missed out on that haunt you to this day? any concert disaster stories?

i have a pretty good disaster story. i paid almost $200 for 4 tickets to see dido in boston. i bought them the day they went on sale. booked a flight to visit my sister (who lives in boston) and go to the show. my sister, her fiance and her friend take me out to a really nice dinner before the show. we get to the venue, sit in our seats, watch the opening act. wait. wait. wait. wait. wait. an HOUR AND A HALF goes by. the stage manager or whoever he was comes out and says the show has been canceled due to "artist illness". now, i understand if the performer is not feeling well enough to play. i think i would have liked to have been told a lot earlier. makes you feel that the venue owners delayed telling the crowd to get as much concession money as possible. anyway, after waiting 4 months and another hour and a half. never got to see her. bummer.

at least i did not buy scalped tickets. THAT would have sucked.

DAIKATH

Rock Bitch including Jewel State, Gina Torres, Morena Baccarin and Summer Glau. With me getting the golden condom.

Ok not really a thing that happened for real, but I'd sure like it to happen ;).And of course getting the golden condom would not count as a disaster ;).

SPIKEANDJEZEBEL

Last year I had tickets to see The White Stripes in LA, but the day of the show I got really sick and couldn't go. I gave the tickets to a friend of mine. She told me the next day that when she got there, her seat was broken, and they put her and her date in the fourth row!!! That would have been me!!

DARKJESTER

In 1979, Status Quo were playing at the Hammersmith Odeon in London the very same day my family was flying back to the States after 3 years in Scotland. I was 15, they were my rock gods, and we drove right past the bleedin' arena on the way to Heathrow airport!!!!
Talk about trauma to a young mind.....

THATWEIRDGIRL

many years ago, i went to a zz top concert. Loved it! When I was a little girl watching Music Television, I had a secret ambition to be a zz top girl. Sadly, I never accomplished that particular goal.

yet another concert i attended w/my dad. We know how to enjoy a concert!

NEEDLESEYE

Uh, this is grim.
My best friend's brother had and extra ticket to the Cure. So, I went with him and his girl friend. It was her birthday, she had a bit to drink, but nothing noticable. Girl friend and I became fast friends. After the concert they wanted to go to a club, I for some reason, just didn't want to go, normal me would have jumped to go. I was 16 and any freedom was gold at that time.
I called my best friend in the morning to talk to her about the concert and about her brother's girl friend, how nice, etc. She tells me they were in a wreck at an exit ramp about 5 miles from my house. Neither were wearing seat belts. Brother was thrown in the back seat, but girl friend who was driving, was thrown from the car and dashed against a concrete baracade.
I honestly can't remember that concert, not one second of it.

BEATLE

Great topic, and yes, Thatweirdgirl is a cutie.
I love going to shows, that's what I call the local concerts that are not quite big enough to call a concert. I follow Roger Clyne and the Peacemakers, some of you may remember them as The Refreshments. Twice a year they have a show in Mexico that is the be all-end all of shows for a lot of us. A few hundred people that I know from the band's website come down and we get to meet in person instead of online. It's a great time and something I look forward to every year. Can't say I've had any disaters other than drinking too much, but like we say..."What happens in Mexico, Stays in Mexico".
