SLAYERFEST

This is a general message to promote an event I am running in February. I realise that you guys WILL know about Firefly but some other people on other sites do not:

"I have booked the Caxton Theatre in Grimsby, England for an inaugural "Firefly Shindig" entitled “Independents’ Day” on Saturday 19th February 2005. If this takes off we may look to bring guests to the events in much the same way as for a Slayerfest. But to be honest we don't know how big the demand will be so we will run regardless! The event will run from 7 - 11pm.

If you don't know Firefly, come along to find out exactly why so many fans are getting REALLY excited for April 2005 when the movie
version of Joss Whedon's short-lived TV show springs into action as "Serenity".

The event will be held in the theatre Bar and will be a chance for fans to meet up with and mix with other fans of the show. There will
be a chance to win a prize for the best fancy dress on the Firefly theme and we will run a raffle of Joss Whedon-related goodies from
Buffy, Angel and Firefly. Tickets will be sold through the Caxton Theatre box office telephone (UK) 01472 346251 tickets will go on sale at the start of December.

Tickets will cost £4 and all profits will go to the Caxton Theatre's Youth Theatre programme."

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

This is a shiny idea!

You know I was thinking about something along these lines last night. I thought it would be great to have an internationally recognized day for all Browncoats, and call it Independents Day or something along those lines.

I tried to think what would be a good date for this Browncoat Day, but got stuck. I had thought of Sept 20th to commemorate the original air date of the series, but I thought that might not work as it is too close to the date of Dragon Con & the Browncoat Ball. I then kicked around the idea of April 22nd, since that day has great significance to all of us w/ the premiere of the BDM and the vindication it will give us, as Joss & the cast will have done the impossible.

What do you guys think?

News for potential attendees - we will be auctioning off an extremely rare item at this event. It is one of only five DVDs which were produced to raise money for charity. The DVD is entitled "The Red Chair Diaries - The Best of Slayerfest". It features the appearances of Clare Kramer, Elizabeth Anne Allen and Amber Benson at the Caxton Theatre for our Slayerfest events. You cannot but this DVD anywhere in the world! It has a slide show, exclusive interviews with each actress and a full length programme featuring their Q&A sessions and scenes from around the event.

As if that was not enough, these discs have been signed by a number of celebrities:
Nathan Fillion
Summer Glau
Jewel Staite
Nick Brendan
Emma Caulfield
Tom Lenk
Juliet Landau
Clare Kramer
Elizabeth Anne Allen
Sarah Hagan
Nickolaus Brown
Robert Patrick
James Charles Leary

This incredible item will be the centre piece of our auction at the event.

Starrider Store of Grimsby will also be providing us with a merchants' area and Danny Tuck of Dogbane FX will be demonstrating sci-fi make-up for the fans.

Not bad for four quid! Get yourselves along!

MERCEDESTROY

4-22-05 : The first official Independents Day.

Sounds just peachy to me!

A day to look up and make our favorite recipe for Mudder's Milk and then sock a jerk in the face!

Plus plenty of quality time with our favorite Browncoats.

If Justice is the dish, then I am your waitress

That is what I thought. A day that is ours for us to celebrate the BDM and all things Firefly and Serenity.

Having been in touch with Summer concerning this event, she is happy to offer her support for the Caxton Youth Theatre Project and is going to send something special to be auctioned off on behalf of the charity.

Yet another reason to get yourselves along to Independents'Day at the Caxton Theatre.

GORRAMREAVERS

4-22-05 sounds great. Setting aside a day for recognition of all of our support of Firefly is a great thing.

This date is a symbol of all the hard work and money spent believing in Firefly. From the new Browncoats all the way up to Joss. Normally it would be hard to believe that a cancelled TV show could get a big gorram budget for a feature film but not in this case. Cause we all believe.
