Has anyone heard whether or not there will be a Firefly videogame?

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

Nothing more than rumors on the net.

I believe once Universal sees the success of the BDM they may look into merchandise and a game, but I would not expect anything soon.

I'm working on a mod for Escape Velocity: Nova ( http://www.ambrosiasw.com/games/evn ).

I'm mostly done with the universe at this point, and have two ships including the Firefly-class.

The problem is, if they're not working on one right now, there's no chance in hell of a (decent) game being released for most platforms any time soon. Creating a brand new, in depth, 3D and all that game takes, at times, upwards of 18 months.

Oh sure, they could bang one out in 4-5 months, but it would suck wind, and I think we all want something that would do Serenity justice... n'est pas?

There is also a mod for Neverwinter Nights for some online roleplaying.

I seen a game that might be kinda like Firefly, but I never got it
the game was called Freelancer
The backstory posits a future divided by nationality . The human race found themselves in a galaxy far, far away and they got stuck there when the wormhole collapsed. They quickly colonized new home worlds and named everything with familiar locales that make navigation feel a little like home. In the Western sectors you'll feel at home entering the New York system and landing at a spaceport called Manhattan, for example. There are large systems are divided Bretonia (Britain), Liberty (US), Rheinland (Germany). There is an Asian sector and there are also the Border Worlds, which are inhabited primarily by descendants of the Spaniards. Like role-playing games you determine who your enemies are and who your friends are by your own actions, you venture around a space dock until you find a ship and a job. Seems like this game might have been based on Firefly ?

True, but they may work out if you think about it. Follow me here.

The BDM comes out 4/22/05 & over the course of its run (say 6-8 weeks in theatres) it is a success. Universal fires up a team to develop a video game. It takes 18 months, which puts it out say just a few months prior to the second movie. The game could draw interest for the new movie, and the movie could help boost game sales after it premieres.

Sounds like a pretty good plan to me. I just hope that Universal is listening.
