Ever walk around wondering if anyone else in your area is just as nuts over Firefly & Serenity as you? Do you wear your Firefly & Serenity shirts and go home dejected because nobody said "Hey, your a browncoat like me?" Do you enjoy hearing about all the cool Shindigs, and then loathe & despise all those people because you didn't get to go. Well.....those days are over..

JimNightshade & I we're discussing that it's high time something happened in this area. When I say area I'm looking mostly at North Texas & Oklahoma. But any other folk who would be willing to make the drive would be glad to join in. So If you're out there, let your voice be heard!

DFW area here too.

Now I ask what is more Dallas Texan than Technology and cowboys? HUMMMM?! NOTHING that's right.

So Serinity society was based on how badass us Texan's are. Don't worry Oklahoma your badass by default for being a neighbor that doesn't call the cops on us. ;)

I have TOTALLY done this! I had one dude look at me and go, "Cowboy Bebop?"
I said, "No," and then he goes, "Your shirt --- is it Cowboy Bebop?" like it had to be Bebop and I just didn't know what I was talking about.
I love me Bebop, but he really ticked me off -- perhaps because he was acting like I was a girl who couldn't possibly know what Cowboy Bebop was.

I know a coupla Browncoats here, but both are mamas, so I don't know if we'd be able to make it to a shindig. We'd be there in spirit, though. :)

Texas badass? Hmmm. That never crossed my mind. No offense, but Texas is a world away.

I'm in no way claiming that OK is better. It's just not Texas.

I'm going to regret this post, aren't I?

Yes, yes you are. In my days I've traveled across the country. Road trip to NY, train ride to LA, and up the elk mountains of the great rockys. Of all the places I've been and seen, Texas is the best place I know of. Good weather, nice people and, not to mention all the pretty girls. If we have a shindig, I vote Texas. There are already about 20+ browncoats in this area alone. I can think of no other place better suited for a firefly shindig.

Oh count me in! I was working yesterday and too tired to read everything and missed this thread. (This always happens to me!)
I can round up the Plano Dallas TX Firefly Meetup bunch, I know they would all love a shindig! There's I think 14 Browncoats showed last month.
Perhaps if any of you on this thread are near enough to can attend the next meet Saturday, this could be covered in probably great detail. :)

Woot! :D

Wanna try to see if we can bring this more Northish (not a word, I know) but if nothing else we could bounce between the two states. Very happy to see the response. Glad to see a few OK folk too. Let's just see what more develops here.

Question for THATWEIRDGIRL: you north or south of Tulsa?

A Shindig sounds pretty cool. I live in the Dallas area.

Mom lives in OK City, though. So if the swapping back and forth thing happens and the forth place is OK city, then I'm still in.

WierdGirl... why so down on TX? It's not a bad place (in the sense that it hasn't killed me in 48 years). And there's some decent folk here as well. As evidence, I offer... Browncoats!

OK so I'm not seeing alot of OK folk. Perhaps it may just be time to hook up with the Plano group. THATWEIRDGIRL (love the name & the site) Would Plano be oh so out of the way. Unless we can uncover more OK browncoats we may have to head south. I know my crew would gladly make the 3 - 4 hour trek. So any thoughts. Looking for more.

Personally, I think Dallas makes the most sense. There are sure to be plenty of venues to choose from, and it's half way between the northern part of OK and the southern part of TX. And, bonus, if anybody wanted to fly in from someplace else the airport's right there. Not to mention also being about the same distance west from Louisiana if we wanted to include those folks. So, despite being an Okie myself, that seems to just make the most sense.

My hope is that we have enough Browncoats in the woodwork up here in OK to do our own thing. But if not we could hook up with the TX group. And perhaps on occasion we could join up both groups. I'm curious to meet the Plano group because I have friends in Dallas I want to shanghi(sp) into the meetup & I know they would have a great time as well.

Well, if we're going to be doing it in Oklahoma, one cool place to look could be Guthrie. While it's kind of out of the way, it's still got that great frontier downtown, with enough of a town around it to support having a number of people flock there all at once.
