EMBERS

thanks for the heads up...
that is really a great blog,
she is such a sweet heart
and I' hope they'll be working on another Serenity movie soon!
Let's see, when is the soonest possible?
If the the movie comes out as a big hit in 4/2005
and Joss is making X-men3 summer/2005
then Joss should be able to write a script and start shooting in Autumn/2005...or winter...or Spring of 2006... :(

No, NO!
too too long...

11th Hour is cool! I've always known that, even I though I haven't met her.

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

Jewel is such a fantastic lady. Her "Top 10 Things..." lists are shiny.

I was fortunate enough to meet 11th Hour and I concur w/ Jewel, she is great!

Well, I've been fortunate enough to meet her, and she does rock! But you're right - if you knew nothing but her art on her web site, you couldn't help but know how cool she is. And she spent SO much time getting the flyers and especially those fantastic postcards published. I'm so glad she got a shout.

Besides, great blog. Thanks Jewel!

Yeah, and if wishes were horses we'd all be eatin' steak.

After reading the notes, I wandered through some of the photos on the same site. While moving down to the DragonCon pics I was transfixed by a TOPLESS PHOTO of Jewel. Whoa NELLY! Cuter'n words can say!

What was she there, about a year, year-and-a-half old?

ZOID

It's official: I love Jewel. I pray thee, Lord, to let me live long enough to see her grown into a healthy and successful, mature woman.

What a wonderfully realistic and yet hopeful outlook she seems to have. Very open and generous. It's almost enough to make a cynical old curmudgeon like me feel that the world may turn out right, after all. She's a princess, and our treasure.

Truly,

zoid

As one of the lucky Dragon*Conites who got to meet Jewel (as well as Nathan and Adam!), I can tell everyone she is just as sweet and gracious in person as she sounds from her blog. What a beautiful person, inside and out!

I think I was the first fan to receive a strawberry from Jewel, though doubtless I wasn't the last! Fans decided that strawberries were the "it" gift, and she was getting overwhelmed with them. My wife decided to give her something more unique and personal:

I had purchased a polished stone in a hotel gift shop in Indianapolis with the word "Serenity" engraved upon it. (They had many others, including Patience, Humility, etc. You can guess why I picked Serenity!) Our friend Rusty, who makes handcrafted jewelry, bound the stone in gold wire and hung it from a simple cord. My wife gave it to Jewel, who seemed genuinely touched and immediately hung it around her neck. The two ladies then spent a few minutes talking about nail polish!

It was fun, and I can't wait until next year!

I just read the Jewel blog. It was nice.
The Serenity set experiences sounded great. Poor Alan Tudyk!

Jewel sounds like a nice, down to earth person.

America loves a winner!

Just read Jewel's blog. Yep, she's terrific. ( Not like there needs to be more verification for THAT! ) Want nuttin but the best for her and Matt. They were so cool Sunday night, after all they'd gone through and Jewel STILL having a stage performance later on to hang out and chat w/ the fans.

I can only imagine how much fun Nathan's parties must be, with all of our BDHs there, considering how much fun it was to be in the forums with just 3 of them! Just wondering, does anyone know what part of Canada he's from?

Jewel is such a sweetheart. I wish her all the best with her auditions, and would love to see her in more shows and movies, in addition to her brilliant performances in Serenity I, Serenity II, and Serenity III, of course.

As I peruse the choice of emoticons, I notice that there's not one for jaw dropped, wide eyed amazement, followed up by intensely, heartfelt warm fuzzy feeling... all over.

All I can say is, "What, no accolades from Nathan and Adam also?"

Kidding!

I'm so touched that Jewel included me in her "10 Best Things" Dragon*Con list. Had I also compiled such a list, she and Matty would have been at the top of mine too. I had the distinct pleasure of meeting them both when I visited the set, and when we met again at Dragon*Con, it was if we were relaxed and natural friends.

As luck would have it, I happened on to Jewel and Matty a few times at the Con, and it was always a delight to visit with them. (I had the opportunity to tell Jewel what the tag line for her future guerilla marketing poster would be, and she loved it. Was good to get her "official" stamp of approval...) Jewel is gracious, poised and vivacious, and so pretty... she really is "present". Matty is so bright, cute and funny... and he was really good interviewing the Firefly costume group. I saw a future director as he confidently used that camera and guided the interviews.

Still a bit stunned at the shiny mention in her blog... You know, Jewel really is a jewel!

Jewel's blog is such fun to read. Her energy, humor and good spirit come through in her writing.

Thank you also for your kind words Haufel. Jewel is such a sweetie to include me on her list... she certainly is on my favorite list too. She and Matty made a special point of thanking me at the end of the night that I visited the set. I was so impressed by their thoughtfulness... and class!

As for getting the promotional material together for Dragon*Con... Well I can take credit for the designs, but Kelkat and others really came through with making all the photocopies. In fact they turned out so shiny that they're being sold on eBay! The Kaylee postcards were a bit of an effort to make happen... not "get a catalyzer" type effort mind you... but so worth all the work. And I'm so very, very impressed by all of the shiny fans who stepped up and donated money to the Kaylee Postcard endeavor.

We have the best gorram cast and fans in this here 'verse!
