As of now Firefly is #4 on Zap2it's list of searched shows. You can see the list at:
http://tvlistings2.zap2it.com/grid.asp?partner_id=national

The top 5 are:
1. Las Vegas (NBC)
2. ER (NBC)
3. Med. Investigation (NBC)
4. Firefly (FOX)
5. 24 (FOX)

Not bad for a show that premiered 2 years ago and cancelled 3 months later after airing only 12 episodes.

SOUPCATCHER

That is pretty cool.

I just realized something. This Friday will be the two year anniversary of Firefly's debut on television (3rd Friday in September). It's hard to believe that it was two years ago that me and my girlfriend sat down with much anticipation to watch "The Train Job". A lot of water has gone under the bridge since then. Many strange twists and turns. Hopefully much more to be written in this particular book. I think we'll have to do something special this Friday. There should be a name for the third Friday in September. Instead of U-Day I think I'll call it FU-Day (FU to F*x, natch). Or should that be April 22, 2005?

Just thinking out loud when I should be working .

I shaved off my beard for you, devil woman!

I have a proposal to mark the second anniversary of our beloved show.

On the third Friday in September, at 8:00 Eastern time, Firefly fans shall load up their DVD players en masse and watch the episode "Serenity Parts 1 & 2." This message to FOX will declare load and clear that there would have been support for this show, had only the original, full pilot been aired.

I also propose that throughout the fall, we watch each episode at 8 PM on its original air date. As the day of the week will change each year, we'll be showing support against the Friday Night Death Slot.

The unaired episodes will be added in as they are shown on the disks, and the pilot will not be viewed again on 12/20, replaced with The Message (again, showing our defiance from Fox, we will withhold Objects in Space for the final episode - meaning on 12/13, the show viewed will be Trash).

Let's show Fox the way this show should have been shown.

How will they know we're watching on our dvd players?

It's symbolic, I guess. More a show of solidarity and fan support than actually sending a message. However, I'm sure we could inform Fox directly of this campaign, provided it catches on.

Just thought it'd be a fun way to celebrate the anniversaries.

Just wondering if it would show in their ratings if every Browncoat who still switches to Fox watches the DVDs instead of the Fox channel?

If you don't think so don't tell me and let me dream

BROWNCOAT1

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

I really like the ideas SoupCatcher & Barclay. I think it would be great if Browncoats worldwide marked the anniversary of Firefly by turning off Fox and watching "Serenity Pts 1 & 2" on that Friday night. That would be Friday Sept 17th (tomorrow), correct?

I normally watch Firefly on Fridays anyway, but the thought that hundreds or even thousands of Browncoats all popping in their DVDs at the same time to watch the set gives me the fuzzy-wuzzies.

I'm in. I wouldn't be watching F*X at that time (or any other time) anyway. It'd be great to watch the show, as it was meant to be shown, through December. Then we could turn around and watch it the same way again every Friday from January 14th through April 15th (the Friday before April 22nd). What better way to get ready for the BDM?

Unfortunately, no. As it is the "ratings" that supposedly represent millions of viewers, are really based on the actions of 100,000 with Nielsen boxes. So, unless you have a Nielsen box, you have no impact on the ratings at all. Which is why I suggest not turning FuX on at all.
