There's no place I can be since I found Serenity.

I know there have been rumors floating around that Joss might be on board to direct the third X-Men movie, and I checked through threads posted over the past couple of days but did not see a reference to this.

Not what you can call official, but maybe close. I hope he at least writes the Serenity sequel before beginning work on X3, in fact I hope he gets a chance to direct it first, since X3 is not supposed to be out until Summer '06.

there has been a lot of buzz on this topic:

"Our sources say Joss Whedon is set to Write and Direct X Men 3 with the start date now pushed back to the Summer of 2005."

WHEDON LANDS ON THE X?

9.7.04 By Dave Davis
Contributing sources: Production Weekly, Jason B.

About a month ago, Buffy the Vampire Slayer mastermind Joss Whedon publicly declared an interest in taking on the next X-Men movie now that Bryan Singer has traded mutants for a cape and a big "S". Was someone at Fox listening?

If the industry newscatcher Production Weekly is to be believed (and I'm told they're rarely wrong, if ever), ears were indeed open, and wise decisions were made. According to them, Whedon is onboard to direct X3, with the production gearing up in Vancouver next June.

Of course, there's currently no script, and to the best of my knowledge no major talent has actually signed for the movie (and we know Halle Berry has little interest in returning unless she's in the spotlight). But Whedon certainly has a handle on the characters judging by his excellent run on Marvel's Astonishing X-Men series, and we know from his remarkable television work that he can juggle multiple characters, so it probably wouldn't be too difficult for him to whip up a fine screenplay (especially considering he worked on the first film's script).

As a massive Whedon fan I know I'd be first in line to see it, but he's currently putting the finishing touches on Serenity, the feature follow-up to his space western series Firefly, so we'll see if he's got time for mutant mayhem.

Another interesting superhero note: Production Weekly also lists (as rumored) Jim Caviezel as starring in Singer's Superman movie (subtitled Unbelievable).

Only time will reveal thier prognostication skills, and if Millar or Knowles wins their bet.
------------------------------------------
Joss indicated at Wizard World in Chicago that he would love to collaborate on the project but only if he was helping to write it too...so I'm assuming if he is going to direct then he will also be writing!
Which is all good...:D

NESS

This is the second article to mention that X3, if made, will be heading back to Canada (Vancouver is you want to get specific) for production. It suddenly occurred to me that if Joss directs X3 he'll be in Vancouver. Which is a province over from me.

[insert loud, happy squealing]

Okay, so being an obsessive fan girl aside, Joss is doing great on Astonishing X-Men right now and a X3 script written by him would be great, too. The movie type people would be stupid to pass up an opportunity of a Joss Whedon penned script, but I think it's gonna take Serenity to make them believe that he's the right guy for the director job. Of course, there have been big time movies with lesser known directors and they've turned out okay. So none come to mind, but I'm sure there are some...

Whatever the case, I want to see X3. You don't need Halle Berry to make it interesting. It'd be neat if they expanded on the role of Iceman even more, but this is coming from a Shawn Ashmore fan.

Here is my glorious insight into the course of events that should be taken (and by insight i mean a coherent thought I had...maybe )

Ok so Joss does Serenity and it's of course one of the best movies ever, demonstrating Joss's great directorial talent (among others). Then he does X3 and it is greatly recieved, propelling Joss into a directorial force to be reckoned with (BDD anyone ). Then Joss comes back to Serenity and universal is even more supportive than they are now...and a trilogy to challenge Star Wars (4-6) ensues.

Admit it, your dreams at least are on the same vibe

If Joss is doing it, it should be great, (Maybe even take the position of Best Superhero Movie Ever from X2) and it'll only be better if Halle Berry's gone.

Nooooo! Iman MUST be Storm!

As much as I love Gina, she's just too rounded. Storm is pointy-featured and WAY tall.

Iman is African and has the delicate bone structure of Storm. Plus, she's older. I think Storm is the oldest of the X-gang. Someone else suggested Angela Bassett. She'd also be a good Storm, but Iman would completely OWN it.

I've been wanting Iman to play Storm forever!!! She was born to play storm, she's perfect. Though i do agree that Gina would make a very powerful storm, though not a perfect match features/figure wise.
