Anyone planning on going somewhere on halloween dressed as a Browncoat (or, perhaps conning their kid/little sibling/niece/nephew/nextdoor neighbor/random someone on the street into doing it for them?)

Being 13, I think I could manage to spend a few more years trick-or-treating, if I were to maybe walk on my knees, so I'm thinking that if I were able to get a coat that resembled Mal's or maybe an Inara/Companion dress I could run around doing that this year.

It's either be a Browncoat, Fhqwhgads (rock on Strongbad!) or Elphaba (Wicked...yeah...theatre geek...) and I think I've decided!

Anyone else? Anyone?

(Sorry if this doesn't go here)

Personally I think a Fhqwhgads would be pretty neat or maybe you can go as Strong Bad himself.

I think every Firefly fan should dress as Mal for Halloween. His costume seems pretty easy: browncoat, tan (tight) pants, and some boots. The shirt really doesn't matter all that much since the coat will be covering it. I've been considering buying a browncoat for Halloween. I'm too old to trick-or-treat but students always dress up on campus so it wouldn't be weird. Then afterwards I could wear the coat for the fall and then again for when the movie comes out.

The only problem so far is that I can't find a browncoat like Mal's. The closest thing I've seen is a jacket my sister owns that looks like the one Zoe wears in The Train Job and at the end of The Message. I'm only considering dressing like Kaylee like she appeared in Serenity; I've got a parasol, might as well use it.

If it comes down to it, I can always wear my Strong Bad t-shirt and claim I'm dressed like Joss. I do own the same shirt he does.

It is my sincere intention to dress up for Halloween in some manner or another as something Firefly related. I can do a very reasonable Jayne right now, having all the pieces needed. Wash would also be easy, as I own a black tac vest and a hawaiian shirt, so all I need is a flightsuit. However, of the cast, I'd really like to put together a male version of Zoe. It'd be easy enough, get a brown leather vest and the like. Time will tell. Static I imagine will produce a fair resemblance of Mal.

Of course, both Static and I will be dressed up in some kind of costumey garb during that time frame, as the Carolina Renaissace Festival will be running from Oct. 2nd into the middle of November.

You're only 13 and considering giving up halloween? Hell, I'm 15 and plan on doing it a lot longer. I mean honestly, who can argue with free candy?

Anyhoo, my friend is planing a HE-UGE halloween party (its like 2 months away and she's starting to plan already, it's gonna be great)

So, any idea where i can get a flight suit? I could be kaylee, tha'd be fun.

15? I went trick or treating two years ago. I was 20. Heh. And Ebo, try a local army/navy surplus store, maybe eBay?

Well, yesterday was the first day of Kindergarten for our five-year old son. He insisted on wearing a Wash-style shirt.

... he loves alternating between Jayne and Wash for playacting.

Heh, I totally agree...I'm 16, and I intend to do it for a while more. Last Halloween, some lady asked me and my friend how old we were, so we told her, and she says "Good for you! Keep the faith!" I thought that was neat.

Anyhoo, I sadly don't know where to find a good browncoat. AbbyShot clothiers is considering making a replica, but it would be pricey. Here's the thread if you're interested: http://www.abbyshot.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1267

SERENITYSRIVER

My friends and I have yet to plan a Halloween party, but one will come in the future, I'm sure.

I'd love to go as Inara, but I'm not certain if I could pull it off. Kaylee would be easier. I have a green jump-suit type thing that I bought to play a janitor in a school play. Add a teddy bear patch and Keylee it up. . . . I think I could pull it off. My friend wants me to be Zoe. . . We'll see what happens.

I also plan on dressing up when I see Serenity in April. My friends and I will be the only ones. . . . then again, I might be the only one. . . .

Yay Browncoats!

(I'm also considering being Elphaba. Wicked rocks!)

"Shoot them?"
"Politely."

I prolly couldn't pull off an Inara very easily, but if I got the right dress and maybe a drapey shawl/kimono/whatever thing, like she has in the beginning of Heat of Gold, I might be able to do it. Would have to mess with my hair, though.

I thought I was the only one that wanted to dress up for Serenity...I would love to go as Kaylee or Inara (especially if I could manage to get one for Halloween) on the first night show I can get into...I should wear my costume to school so I don't have to change. ^_^

(And YAY! Elphaba I could pull off EASY. Or Nessa. But yeah, WICKED ROCKS! I got the idea to be Maureen from RENT, though, or Virgina Wolf from the 10th Kingdom, but now I'm waaay off topic...)

The other day we were getting dressed after swimming and our daughter said to him, "Your mouth is talking. You might want to see to that."

I nearly bust a gut.

But Jayne as a role model is okay ... at least he smiles. Our son also got addicted to "Soldier" this summer ... and Kurt Russel's character has zero facial expression for the most part. So I know when I get a blank stare that it is "Todd" I'm talking to, not Jayne or Wash. LOL!

Oh ... and we named our dilapidated house "Serenity" this summer and everyone got jobs to do to keep her flying.

We got the kids rainbow-coloured umbrellas this summer (one of the wettest we've had in years). Our daughter immediately started spinning it on her shoulder to be Kaylee. Our son closed his up, propped it on his shoulder, and pranced around singing, "Siiiiiinnnnnnging in the rain, I'm singing in the raiiiiiiiiiiiin..."

My kids crack me up.
