I'm sure anyone whose watched the series once or twise has caught onto some foreshadowing (that's when upcomming events in the story are hinted at before they happen for all you people who failed 5th grade english). An obvious example is Kaylee complaining about the Compression Coil in Serenity, then in busts in OoG. So...looking at the episodes we have, what do you think joss threw in there as foreshadowing episodes to come, only the epidodes never got made.

I hope i'm making some sense here.

So guys, given what we have, whats gonna show up in the movie/tv show comeback, that we'll look back our episodes, slap ourselves in the forehead, and go "Well, duh!" about?

I'm talking really subtle stuff too, not things that the charachters say themselves (like Wash and Zoe are gonna have a baby, because they said they would)

I only got one, and it doesn't really make sense, even to me, but i've been thinking about it a while, and wanna get it out there:

Possible affair between Wash and Kaylee.

Wait! I know it sounds dumb, but hear me out. They have that little bit of dialoge in HoG where Wash says:
"Were i unwed i would take you in a manly fashion"
"cause I'm pretty?"
"Cause you're pretty."

And then the next morning they go on out to the ship, and get shot at and Kaylee pushes Wash down and ends up on top of him, and theres kind of this awkward moment between them.

But even though i present this idea, i see it as really dumb, because wash is SOOO dedicated to Zoe (hell, he kept Yo-Saff-Bridge at bay, and she was trying to seduce him), and it would be REALLY hard to have an affair on a ship. Sence everybody lives on top of each other, it would probably last 2 hours before someone found out.

So maybe not an affair, just weird...energy(?) between those two.

Or maybe its just a dumb idea.

I hope yours are better them mine.

hmmm and affair between wash and Kaylee, that could be interesting..

if Wash and Zoe were having some major problems, like lets say he deceided he wasn't ready for children and lets say Zoey wasn't respecting his views..and things got from bad to worse

and lets say..Kayless was feeling really down about Simon not wanting to be more then friends and so lets say Wash and Kaylee got trapped together somewhere and one thing led to another and they slept together..I could see that happening espeacially if lets say alan Trudyk was leaving the show that would be a good exit for him..out of all of the crew..he's the one that I see not being on the show...or leaving if it were to continue

You know, I think you're right, I think that was going to happen some day. It does seem very unlikely because of Wash's dedication to Zoe and because, well, you wouln't want to piss off the toughest of our BDHs would you? But Wash and Kaylee is plausible and although unlikely that's what would have made it so shocking.

I personally can't think of anything. It's not easy to spot - Buffy and Angel used lots of brilliant foreshadowing (I loved Xander's "Thumbs? In eyes? Eeeeew." In episode 3 of season 7, but I only realised it was foreshadowing when I watched it after knowing the future!

America loves a winner!

Ok, Wash and Kaylee ? Let me count the ways in how that's so not likely. First, you did mention that he resisted YoSaffBridge's advances. Second, he clearly loves Zoe, which ordinarily might not be enough for most, but in this case,(Third) Zoe could quite literally kill Wash several ways with OUT the use of a weapon. Oh, then (Fourth) he'd have to deal w/ Mal , who has some interest in not seeing Zoe OR Kaylee get hurt....and(Fifth ) Jayne, who is likely more protective of Kaylee than most realize.

But despite ALL that, you DO bring up a great point, so don't mistake my lengthy reply as being overly harsh.

Other forshadowings ? Just a few very random ones :

River - "I can kill you with my brain." Imagine River taking out a Fed, or a Blue Hand guy ( or even Jubal Early ) with her brain powers ? Spooky!

Inara's syringe thingy: Might we see just what THAT is all about?

I'm gonna guess that we WON'T see any or much follow up on Book's past. I'll just leave that one alone - for now.

That is a good point, I really liked the scene in the pilot where Jayne kneels next to infirmary window with a worried look while everyone else was inside.

Hmmm, I always thought this was just to underline the fear of the reavers. Like Jayne's hand shaking while loading his rifle. I think it's just you usual in-case-of-getting-boarded-by-reavers-suicide-kit for companions.

But in he same episode there is this very wonderful moment when Inara's first client asks her something like "It must be hard to leave the central planets" and she answers something like "No it isn't", but we see her face and she just looking sad and saying nothing while turning her head away. Besides this being a nice way of showing the differnce between what one person is saying and what she is thinking (which is very hard to do on screen) it's seems to be a clue that there is some kind of cause, why she left the central planets.

According to the audio commentary on a later episode, there is another one in a dialog with her and Simon, but I couldn't find anything in this short exchange.

Eilo

oh good, I'm glad i didn't get yelled at for my stupidity like i was expecting.

I've thought of another:
In OMR, Saffaron gets Mal to talk a little about his past. (lived on a farm, was raised by a bunch of farmhands...blah blah blah), that could set up for a storyline in the future when a part of Mals past resurfaces (like an old farmhand crosses his path and excitement and/or helarity ensues.)

Well, I don't think they'd sleep together. Given Joss's use of sex (and lack thereof) in the earlier Buffy episodes, I would expect somehting like this to happen a la Xander and Willow when Spike had trapped them in that building. They thought they were going to die, and they kissed. Now, they had a more significant past and had already been sneaking kisses, but it never went past that.

But I think a more likely story would be for a sexual tension to build from those scenes in HoG, coupled with them making jokes and bonding over mechanics (such as marvelling over YoSafBridge's crossing of the wires) and Zoe's continued war bonding with Mal, to put them in a dire situation where they have an ackward pause, and then one of them leans in to kiss, and the other stops it. They wouldn't tell anyone, but they would always have that wierdness between them. Zoe would pick up on the wierdness, but wouldn't really believe that anything had happened. Then in the next episode, in an argument, Wash makes a sarcastic comment about how Zoe should be with Mal, and Zoe responds with an implication about Kaylee. She sees the hesitation in Wash's face, and then knows that there really was something.

Hey, somebody write a fanfic about that. Really, somebody with writing talent could make a really good story. I don't think they'd do it in a movie, and really that's probably all we'll get. So somebody write it!

I mock you with my monkey pants
