I just finished downloading the Comic Con clips and found them to be rather short and a bit of tease. I know that the entire panel was recorded on video, so can we get a Bittorrent link for the whole vodeo. The clips are nice but I would like to have the whole thing, thanks.

I agree. I appreciate all who posted those clips, however why did they cut off right as our BDHs were about to take the stage? Where was Joss's introduction? I wanted to see the room go bananas!

And there was one segment where Morena was talking and then she just got cut off.

Again, much appreciation, because you guys didn't HAVE to share at all, just me being greedy I guess!

Sorry, my camera will only record 30 seconds at a time, despite the fact that the 1GB memory card could hold over an hour of video at that resolution. It's really only a still camera, after all.

Thanks very much for the clips. I know that somebody went to the trouble of recording the whole thing. Hopfully they will make it available online for the rest of us shmoes that couldn't make it to the con.

The clips had the best audio of the con I've heard yet. So I'm grateful.

Jeremy at fireflymovie.com promises to post the whole video. You can -- or maybe not -- imagine how much bandwidth that will require. I think, from his message, he's reorganizing his server(s). Also imagine how many thousands(!) will want to DL it. He will have to be careful about protecting his server from crashing. It takes time.

If it's set up to use bittorrent that will hugely reduce the bandwidth *he'll* have to provide.

Yep using Bittorrent should solve the bandwith problem. The advantage of using Bittorent is that you are downloading a file from multable uses at the same time, and once you have finished downloading the file you can leave Bittorrent running so other people can continue uploading it from you.

I agree. as greatfull as i am,, it is a tease...although it was enough to satisfy my firefly need. i want to see the whole thing. I want to see the funniest parts..I know someone has it because in the clips you can see a person with a camcorder..we must find this person..and thank you for the audio and visual clips..i got all of them..

I'll be happy to start the BitTorrent if I can get a copy of the video. I've emailed Jeremy to let him know that I can get it started once it's ready.

DANREGAL

Hi Folks,

I posted over on the Serenitymovie board that I have the entire panel on SVCD or 2 CDR's of the raw MPG's. If anyone wants a copy just email me. If anyone wants a copy to host or put up with bittorrent just contact me and I will send it out. I have already sent out a few copies so it may show up on bittorrent sooner rather than later.

The panel video is roughly 37 minutes long and the audio is clear through most of it. You just have to deal with a little shaky camera parts and lots of yelling and screaming. I created a cover and send it out in a dvd case.

My email is 'board name' at comcast.net

I am accepting trades or cost of producing/sending(about $2 US) for anyone who wants a copy. My only other request is to be acknowledged as the author of the video wherever it is hosted.

Haken

Do you think you could get a copy of the Comic-Con video from DanRegal and provide a Bittorent link for it? It would be tremendous if you could do this and if DanRegal is happy to agree to provide you with a copy for such a purpose. Make sure you give DanRegal buckets of credit when you post the like.

A huge THANKS in advance go to both DanRegal for providing the video and Haken for his continuing efforts to support Firefly/Serenity and hopefully providing a Bittorent link to the video.

Is there a transcript of the panel anywhere? I dl the mp3, but there's a lot I miss. I wonder if anyone has seen a transcript. If not, I might transcribe what I can (although I am a slow typer) and see if anyone can fill in the blanks.

Holy cow, I just looked on a.b.m.firefly and someone has posted the teaser (captured at a different Con)! How come this has not been mentioned yet?

The quality is not super amazing (sound not great), but it is definitely the coolest thing I've seen all day!

I am going to BitTorrent that thing RIGHT NOW!

Isn't that bad transcoding from AVI (digital camcorder) to mpeg2 (SVCD) and then to divx/xvid?

He should just post it ONCE to the newsgroup (which is simple) then other people would start spreading it.

Just use the PowerPost program from here: http://www.cosmicwolf.com/
Its a simple program.

Yes, you loose quality with each generation.

I've downloaded the DanRegal video from the newsgroup and I was just wondering if someone could tell me what audio codec it is in?

I can play it, but I get no audio, and Virtual Dub isn't able to identify it (tag 0050).

Its an mp2 variant.
If nothing else, the PC version of MPlayer can play it:

I hope someone posts the svcd versions as well (or the raw DV even)

I'm re-encoding the whole video so that it's a bit smaller and suitable for burning to a VCD. Should be done and up by this afternoon.

No. But I do have the original, which you could re-encode to svcd. Let me know if you want that. The problem I have with hosting the files (there are two) is that they total 1G. Kinda eats up my bandwidth. I've re-encoded them to VCD quality, but both files are still about .5G total. It's better, but still big. Again, should be up by this afternoon. I might re-encoded even smaller if the current file sizes become an issue.

Well, I would like them as big as possible.
I understand your bandwith problem though.
Couldn't you post it to the binary group? Its fairly simple, and since the author has approved it, it's not illegal.

Of course if i suppose i could reimburse you the bandwith.. how much are they fleecing you? :)

"How about an xvid version encoded from the original loaded onto bittorent?"

I'll second that. Encoding the original as an xvid avi would mean that you would get close to DVD quality with a file size of about 350MB which is actualy smaller than the two MPGs you have already uploaded.

Thanks again Haken.

I can't find any link to a torrent yet for the posted files so I've made one with the links on http://stuff.botched.info

Hopefully save this site some bandwidth.
