simple, not just a petition, a petition with a difference...

the only way to make fox return firefly the series is to get money for them... Im in the uk and didnt even see it aired on tv, i bought the dvd as id heard so much good thijngs, and my god its the best thing on tv...

so i want a new series after the movie...

we need to gain £10000 or more... donation to fox should it return to tv for a minimum of 1 more series...

for this we would need to get 2000 donations of £5 not much to give and im sure this series has more than that many fans...

what im suggestin ppl is a petition for the ages, fox can suck my hole if they think firefly is goin down... its not our fault the twits dont know how to advertise to save their lives...

the film will flop should the advertising not be good enough... im gonna street team my arse off all around the uk for this movie, i want the entire thing to suceed!!!!

if this idea is good and get posative feed back, we can start a website, now im not sure how to set this up properly so ill need help and business advice and such and so forth... who would be willing to help me! email me baz_hoban@yahoo.co.uk

hope to hear from some ppl soon.

SUCK MY HOLE FOX!

A better use for the money would be in getting people to buy DVDs and go multiple times to the BDM. Profits are what media companies understand--although legalities may make a return to tv impossible.

It would not be legal for Fox to accept a cash donation from fans, especially if there were an implied quid pro quo to bring the series back. Also, ten thousand pounds wouldn't even fund a minute of filming a new episode. Their lawyers would return it to you in a heartbeat, or an unscrupulous person would intercept the money and cheat you.

PEACE

Fans made an intensive effort to resurrect the series after Fox put it on "suspension" in 2002, either on Fox or on another network. It didn't work. And to get Serenity made Joss had to accept a legal deal that precludes another series for several years-- up to 10, by most reports I've seen. Instead, everyone who is rooting for this concept is thinking in terms a series of films, which is far from bad.

Yes, get the Dvd into the hands of more people and see the movie often. That's what will keep the crew and Firefly flyin'.

Oh, bugger! Now I have to wait for someone to wake up!

TENTHCREWMEMBER

Could you please just make it stranger? Stranger. Odder. Could be weirder. More bizarre. How about uncanny?

First, stimulate DVD sales for Firefly...

http://the11thhour.home.att.net/

is a good place to get some original b&w guerilla marketing posters/flyers for the show.

Now, that being said, I have an idea for closer to BDM release date...

Get some guerilla marketing going hard core. hit the parking lots of the movie theatres on the weekends and put a flyer on every car in the lot promoting the release date. Do the same at movie rental places, videogame stores...anywhere that people might have a sci-fi interest...laser tag games, comic book stores, college campuses. See if local game, hobby and comic book stores will let you put some flyers on the counter or pass them out to people.

And put the shiny posters on every gorramned phone pole you can find! Stick'em in phone booths, bus stops, on the billboards in the grocery stores...heck, "accidentally" leave them lying around wherever you go.

The only way the show will ever be back on TV (and I personally boycott FOX programming until it airs again) is to make the movie & DVD sales such a moneymaker that the Execs go "Holy crap! People *do* like this stuff!" Or, at the very least, give Universal a reason to let Joss crank out a 3 hour movie every couple of years!

Man, what if Shakespeare was "cancelled" after just one season...what would the world be like then? Joss can tell it better than anybody, and he, as well as the actors and all the staff associated with Firefly/Serenity need all the help we can give 'em!

KEEP FLYING!!!

Wouldn't work. Not only do fan donations do nothing, £10,000 wouldn't even pay for Badger to to come back. The pilot episode cost around £6,500,000 to make. An entire season? We're looking upwards of £40,000,000. Plus the movie deal means we can't get another season until the trilogy is made.

TRASK43

It always good to see ideas for the future of Firefly around and as much as Im sure we all want to see a return to tv I really dont think its on the cards, for a while at least. The way I see it at the moment is its all about the movie. If the movie is sucessful we'll get one more (probably two more) and the firefly franchise will be back up an running so there would always be possibilities. Although it seems due to contract issues with fox it could be at least 10 years before we could get the show back on TV but hopefully a sucessful movie series might change that.

On the other hand if the movie doesn't perform very well at the box office I think that might be it for our beloved firefly, so the best way forward is to put all your energy into promoting serenity and hope for the best.

Im also from the UK so you can be sure you wont be alone in promoting the film over here. Any fan websites raising money for guerilla marketing schemes usually seem to work out pretty well. If you were to raise £10,000 you be able to do some pretty great advertising to get folks attention.
