Fans are clearly excited to see Fillion step back into his Firefly threads, but ABC does make it clear that this stunt isn’t a revival in anyway. The actor will be playing himself on American Housewife, so the show may be hosting a fictional revival of the cult sci-fi series. Fillion is slated to take part in a two-episode story, so fans can only guess what is about to go down.

Tonight was episode 18. Last season there were 23 episodes, last year this date was episode 17.

Episode 19 is listed on IMDb but not with details. Wiki posts as 21 March.

TVGuide had a little more info, but stated that Firefly had a short season on Fox in 2005.

AURAPTOR

America loves a winner!

No idea of what that show is, but how amazing is it that 15+ years after the t.v. show he's still identified adored as Captain Mal.

Castle was nice, but as that show ended in a bit of a lurch that left many w/ a bad taste in their mouths, we'll always have SERENITY.

Apparently their normal season is 22 eps, last year was anomaly.

If Ep 20 does not sound like a 2-parter, Nathan's eps could be the season finale. Anybody know if Browncoats are among the cast, crew, characters, writers?

Ah! Kenny Schwartz has written & produced 7 episodes for AH. He was Writer & Producer for 2 Guys And A Girl. And Rick Wiener seems to have almost the same credits as Kenny.

Saw a version of this story on syfywire from 15 March.
With caption Aftermarket Parts is a shot of Wash's Pilot console, with much of the equipment Dr duplicated - except it has an actual piloting steering wheel, instead of the CGI one Alan had to lure end was there.
And with caption "Serendipity" is a Mal shot with background why appears to be an almost CGI version of the Bridge forward viewing ports.

Ep 20 is "Inheritance" which is not indicated TG o be 2-part. Scheduled to air 4 April.
So ep 21 & 22 could be the season finale 2-parter.

Ep 19 is 21 March. So ep 21 can't be before 12 April.
A few weeks to wait for it.

Oops. There will be 24 episodes this season. ABC order 2 more in Oct 2017.

No clue how to navigate this site, so here is a direct linky, hope it works:

Might be navigate by subtab Listings and dropdown By Release Date.

New today, 16 May is labeled episode 24, The Spring Gala.
2 and 9 May are listed as Episodes 22 and 23, Untitled at this point.

So, if this is all accurate, then the Shiny 2 episodes are these 2.
Mark your calendars!

I wonder if any other sources are pointing out this deduction.

I wonder if there were previews last night - did anybody see?

A description for Sliding Sweaters has been posted at FutonCritic in recent hours. The numbers still seem messed up, but the description is about alternate realities. No mention of Nathan, but it is possible there is room for him in such a Sci Fi concept.

Directed by Helen Hunt.

The disneyabcpress release also states the same stuff, including air date 2 May and episode #23.
So either this is the second of the 2-episodes with Nathan, following episode #22 Finding Fillion, or else the 2 Shiny episodes are non-sequential #22 and #24.
This site also has photos of the episode being shot, and Nathan is not in any of the pics I saw for Sliding Sweaters.

The summary was released in the past hours.
In Episode 22 Finding Fillion they travel to NYC to track down Nathan at a Firefly Convention, and convince him to appear at the Spring Gala which she is organizing.

The next week, Episode 24 is called Spring Gala.

The episode writers are Kenny and Rick from 2 Guys and a Girl.

This is actually funny. And Nathan is the overarching focus of the episode, plus Sci Fi Convention cheekiness.

Wow, that was way better than most Castle episodes. And the final commercial break kicks off with The Rookie promo.
Excellent premise for traipsing all over a Firefly class midrange bulk transport.
If this is nonacting Nathan, then Castle was really close to real him.

I immediately recalled that Nathan had always Mentioned how thrilling it was to ride horse on TV. And that he always rides the same horse, no matter what planet they were on. Figured he'd jump at the chance for elephant, regardless of the premise used in the episode - maybe he inserted that requisite when Kenny & Rick asked him to guest.

I assume that clip doesn't include any of the set-ups from earlier in the episode.

He mentioned 3 shows that he might be known for: Castle, Firefly, and the earlier series produced by the scriptwriters for this Episode. He says possible best known for Castle, but he is at a Convention for Firefly, in a Serenity set. IDK: have there been any Castle Conventions?

If you are under 35 you probably haven't seen Firefly, Castle was recent enough and mainstream enough that a soccer mom had likely at least heard of it.

That's all they meant. Firefly is still a niche audience.

When I saw the synopsis of this episode #22 and the title of Episode #24, I imagined this was a good reason why they were not consecutive episodes. But I wondered why they were scheduled to air in consecutive weeks, like maybe post production got delayed or similar.

But now I wonder if ABC scrambled to get Nathan into the Modern Family episode, so he could be in back-to-back shows, and delayed Finding Fillion for that reason?

Well, OK.
He plays a detective on TV, he's not one in real life.

This is funny.

Suddenly, I don't recall any Firefly ep where Nathan shared a scene with a dog. For that matter, any dogs in the whole series, other than the Pilot.

And then they end the show with outtakes, which I had not seen before on this show, the few episodes I've seen.

Caught it on Hulu. It was okay. Generally, I watched a couple of episodes and didn't find it funny. Too much Disney humor, like on the Disney channel.
But these two eps tickled me a bit. They had some good FF jokes and shout outs.

Loved seeing the mock-up of Serenity cockpit. Loved seeing the son research Firefly and him feeding info to the mom. The line about River was funny. Otherwise, it was okay.
