I just wanted to say thank you for the program you ran to get the Firefly DVD set onboard U.S. Navy ships. I'm stationed onboard the USS Lake Erie, and we recently recieved our set. Although I already own the set at home, it makes it nice to be able to show the series to others who might be interested. In fact, I've met a few fellow browncoats onboard after they sent the e-mail out to let us know that it arrived.

Now the downside: I went to check out the set to show it to a buddy of mine who's never seen the series, and it was already checked out, and there was a waiting list a mile long. Those DVDs are going to be worn out before I get my hands on them!

So...any chance that we might get a replacement?

Anyway, I hadn't seen a post like this on here, but I wanted you all to know that we've received our set and at least on our small ship of 400 people it's seeing a lot of use and we're recieving a lot of enjoyment. Thank you and keep flying.

Shiny! Wow, that is absolutely awesome. Thanks for letting us know it got there. We're still flying. :)

I've lent mine out as well, I don't think I'll be getting it back soon... I just might have to buy myself a new set.

Our pleasure, glad you sailors like them! Make sure everyone knows about the movie next April, so they can go see it when they have some shore leave.

Glad to hear you guys got the DVDs. One good thing about the mile long waiting list...it means the show is gaining fanbase. As for another set, you'd probably have to talk to Haken, but not sure. On a personal note, I would like to say 'Thank you' to you and all your shipmates for your hard work and service to our country.

Carry on and 'Keep Flyin'

Thanks so much for the update on the "Firefly for the Troops" EvilNate. I had been wondering if the DVD sets had arrived and what the reception would be. Glad to hear that they are serving the purpose of providing good quality entertainment for our women and men in uniform.

I wonder if the donations should also have included DVD ripping software... Whoops. Did I say that out loud?

I shaved off my beard for you, devil woman!

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

It was completely our pleasure EvilNate. Glad everyone is enjoying them.

Hopefully you will get to see the DVDs soon. Take care of yourself and thank you for all you are doing to protect this country and those that cherish freedom.

Not sure how much I can help, other than to tell you they're available at amazon.com for about 35 bucks with free shipping (there's a link on this site's home page).

Thanks for everyone's responses. I know that sometimes it's hard for people to believe that little things like bingo night or a TV show can improve our lot in life out here, but it's true. The work that everyone did at this site is tremendously appreciated out here. It's things like that that keep us going.

What's awesome is that it looks like I'll be back in port for the premiere of the BDM! I can't wait!

aww, thanks.

dad, uncles, cousins, and tons of friends have done the sailing duty, so it's near and dear. Up and down the coast until they finally let dad go. The 70s were a hard time in service.

i've got a huge family, all the branches are represented, the navy has the most. You guys and gals have guts.

Yeah, I'm not sure how my wife puts up with me being gone 75% of the year. It's fairly easy for me, since I'm busy all the time it keeps me from thinking about it too much. It's kind of sad that so far I've missed my daughter's first tooth, and I'm probably going to miss seeing her crawl for the first time. But I'll get to be there for her first birthday!

If she's like me, she'll be a daddy's girl. I was. I ate up every chance I got to spend w/dad. She will too. I was sick of mom after awhile, everywhere i crawled she was there, everytime I ate she was there.

I think that she already is! She's only 6 months old, but she acts noticibly different when I'm home than when I'm not.
