We have had numerous threads here about favorite scenes or quotes and such, but I recall them mostly being for the entire series, all of the episodes combined.

I was wondering if we could mention some of them, by specific episode. I was hoping that, as I view again each episode, I could recall which parts are particularly memorable or favored by the true fans, here.

First up is Pilot Episode: Serenity.

All scenes are valid and eligible, including deleted scenes, alternate scenes, original scenes, bloopers, edits, parts of the script which were not filmed, commentary, etc.

This is the episode which was the intended first show, but was withheld by Fox until after cancellation of Firefly, after the soundstage was shut down, all actors had given their final performances for the show, and all was wrapped up on Friday, 20 December 2002, everybody went home, and that night this episode was finally broadcast and allowed to be seen by the world. It turned out to be the final aired episode by Fox.

This episode was the one Awarded the Emmy for Best Special Effects out of an entire year of television.

I think my favorite scene was after Kaylee was shot, and Mal and Inara were in the Medic Bay/Infirmary, and the shot was of Jayne, outside the room, but crouched and intently watching through the viewport to what was happening inside. No dialogue for this scene, yet I found it quite poignant.

Perhaps a second choice would be in the shootout, the first time seeing Zoe shotgunned clean off her horse, or Jayne potting the hatted henchman. This scene adds value after hearing Nathan's commentary about how fun he thought it was to ride horses in a western motif up to a spaceship on a foreign planet.

What are your favorites for this episode?

Mine is at the start when Mal sees the Alliance air support coming in instead of the Browncoats. You can feel his spirit breaking from the look on his face. Fillion did a great job with it.

Damn good choice JSF, another one I would've picked.........okay, BTW that was my favorite.

But here's my next favorite:

Wait......I'm a-thinking......................got it!

Towards the end, after Wash does the Crazy Ivan (another fav scene of mine) when
Kaylee instructs Jayne to rev the engines and they escape the Reavers......Kaylee
pats the engine casing and says "That's my good girl" and Jayne a-hooping and
a-hollering in the background. That gave me chills the first time I clapped eyes
on it.

Well, what do I win? I did win..........right!? lol

Fuck!!! That was great television gentlemen, I'm getting all worked up again!
I bet anything that the suits at Fox are kicking themselves............stupid,
stupid Murdoch. I recently re-watched the Train Job and I can't help but think
that they just didn't know what they had in their grubby little hands.

Well, now ABC had re-claimed their little star - Nathan - and they had a hit for
9 seasons in Castle. Right about now Fox execs are pulling a "Boggs" - asking
someone to kick 'em in the pants for having fucked up so badly.

Boy, would I love to be the "kicker."

When Mal shoots Lawrence in the head. He's a good shot. It's one of those "I don't have time for this" moments.

I know a lot of fans mention this scene, but there's a reason for that. Cracks me up every time.

It wasn't Murdoch, it was Sandy Grushow, who no longer works for Fox. Gail Berman also claims responsibility.

Please watch the language - this is not RWED.

Everyone I have introduced to the series I emphasize that the battle scenes are very cheesy BUT they are important to understand the main character.

Also, the following scene where Mal's face is upside down is surely intentional and probably some basic level film-school technique for symbolism.

Transition as contrast. I love that segue.
