Just posted over at my Firefly Fan Film Roundup
http://fireflydvd.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=4887

From Ariel:

KAYLEE:
Look at the bright side, maybe you'll meet a young, handsome Doctor, and he'll ask you out, and
(beat)
What's Companion policy on dating?

INARA:
It's.....complicated.

So, if you've ever wondered HOW complicated, a new Firefly fan film wants to answer that for you.
"A Faithful Companion" is just the first tale from the Firefly 'verse
that professional writer, producer, director, artist Frank Fradella is looking to put on film.
(Well, alright, probably digital video, but you know what I mean.)

Frank has created a website
http://fireflyfanfilms.com/
to be the production home of their own Firefly fan films,
but he is looking to also include a record for all fan-made films in the Firefly 'verse.

Frank's production is underway with a script, location scouting,

and some concept art to visualize the look of the words on the page.

This will be the fourth new Firefly fan film in production in the last couple of years,
and I'm VERY excited about the direction these new productions are taking in two regards.
First, we are starting to see stories taking place outside the milieu of "smugglers, broken down ship, crew's got secrets, etc;
and second we are starting to see fans with a higher level of technical ability and connections starting to grow the 'verse.
I hope the studios see the value in this.
While there is always a place for the amateur-love-letter-fan-film,
they have little reach and engagement beyond the hardcore fans.
The more professionally shepherded fan films are more likely to appeal to a wider audience,
and grow the value of the franchise.
I have high hopes for "A Faithful Companion", and wish Frank the best in bringing "her" to life!

Mike

"No power in the 'verse can stop me!"

The quality of the artist's concept is wonderful! I've visited the "Bellflower" set & have a friend involved with the "Into the Black" and whilst both have excellent production values, neither of them is released as yet... I also own a copy of "Browncoat Redemption" which I have spotted several friends in, but I am just as excited to see another fan film! This looks very promising!

Best wishes for the project!

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

Very good news! Would love to see more fan films! Anything to continue the 'Verse.
