Ok, so Avengers 2 and Jurassic World and the Mockingjay 2 will probably be big, anything you all have heard about the rest? Any they have left out?

There's no place I can be since I found Serenity.

I'm only listing ones I've heard something about, either the story sounds interesting, or I like the director and/or some of the actors.

Predestination
Jupiter Ascending
Chappie
ExMachina
Avengers 2
Tomorrowland
Crimson Peak
The Martian

EDIT: There's another I've had on a personal list for a while, but it's not on the page you link to, and although IMDB says its release date is Jan. 9 it already has a rating and meta-critic score, so obviously it has played somewhere already, probably some festivals. However, I checked back on the 2014 list and they have it for this Dec. 12. It's "Inherent Vice," directed by Paul Thomas Anderson and based on a Thomas Pynchon novel. More than likely it will open in NY and LA to be eligible for the Oscars, but even if it comes to my town it will be next year.

I won't be seeing it. I was done with Star Wars around the time the Ewoks showed up in RotJ.

That was pretty awesome. I guess there's something to be said for going out on a high note. After the prequels that hasn't been possible for a long time though.

Either you're being sarcastic, or you misunderstood what I was saying. The high point of Star Wars was The Empire Strikes Back. I consider the Ewoks to be the Jar Jar Binks of the original trilogy.

It was a ploy to get more women interested. And it worked, I thought they were cute. And a nice reminder that maybe we will find beings out there that don't have dripping fangs and poison tentacles. And jobs for little people- what's not to like here?

Yeah, we know. Teddy Bears invaded yer man time

But the analogy doesn't work. Everyone HATED Jar Jar. Lots of guys liked the Ewoks. My bro had a couple of 'em as a teenager. You can still be a MAN and like cute things. Except for bronies (poke at Two ) Those don't count at ALL.

How in the world were the Ewoks the Jar Jar Binks of the original trilogy? They were just cool little bastards that kicked @#% and took names. The whole point was the Empire underestimated them because of their appearance. Yoda already taught that lesson in Empire Strikes Back, but he didn't teach it to the Empire.

Anyway back to the topic I guess Ant Man is this year too. Just watched the teaser for that. I'm not sure if it will live up to the Marvel Studios standard, but they haven't disappointed me yet. So, I'll be there.

How about you like what you like and I don't like what I don't like? That would work for me.

Isn't it with JJ Abrams? That means that the entire gang will spend 98% of the film on Earth, and merely jot out to other planets in between jabbering at each other - just like he devolved Star Trek into.

Wasn't Chewbakka supposed to originally be an Ewok? Or the Ewoks supposed to be Chewbakka's race?

It's only been a few months since I read "The Star Wars" graphic novel, the one based on Lucas' original screenplay, but I don't remember a whole lot. Chewbacca was still a Wookie but didn't show up until toward the end of the story. I don't think Ewoks were mentioned at all, and Han Solo was a green alien of some sort.

George Lucas has said many contradictory things about what his "original" ideas were. He did say at some point that instead of Ewoks there was going to be a planet of Wookies. Whether that's truthful or just his revisionist history I don't know. Basically if someone can't find a dated document that proves what George Lucas is saying really happened, I'd take it with a grain of salt.

You list Chappie, so I wonder if you have seen Automata. I may have asked you the same elsewhere.

Did you like Inherent Vice?
