Afternoon all!

I'm just another OB regular, starting to wean myself onto Haken's uber shiny site. I go by the same name on the other board, and I just wanted to say "ni haody", as the saying goes...

I've posted here a couple of times, but only now am I starting to get the hang of things.

I'm an Aussie living in China (inspired in part to come out here to teach English by Firefly), and I'm damn excited by the BDM.

I'm also delighted that there seem to be no penguins here. If they show up, I'm sure it was Pip who let them in...

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

Welcome to the board GoldenFool. It is good to have you here with us.

Hope the layout difference between the OB & here is not too much of a shock. Hope to see you posting w/ us often.

Penguins?

I mean, uh, hi. No Penguins, but I'm pretty sure we can get some horrifying space-monkeys if you want 'em.

Hi there and welcome!
I'm from the OB too. I recongnize you.
I just registered yesterday when the OB had a hiccup, and it struck me that the OB wouldn't always be around. :'(
But we can feel at home here too. I mean any place that is full of browncoats is a good place.
And as far as I know no one has let the penguins run loose on this board, so it is a safe place.....for now.

I'm sure the space monkeys and the penguins are in kahoots. (cahouts? Cerhuts?)

It's 'Inca haunts'. See the movie, "Vibes" for the complete story...

Welcome, 'Fool and MOH! Hope y'all like it here as much as we do. There's not as much tomfoolery here as at the OB; although this post may lead one to suspect otherwise.

Respectfully,

zoid

Take your pick:

Response #1:
Back when Firefly was still on the air, I used to lurk over at the OB, and found most of the posts thoughtful and witty, if somewhat terse (one might even say 'laconic'). Then when FF got the ax. Within about a month, the whole board seemed to be taken over by glue-sniffing adolescents. It's getting better, but it's still as chaotic as hell. So, 'tomfoolery'...

Response #2:
If the shoe fits (you caint acquits). I've got nothing against the 'challenged'.

Response #3:
I believe it's all a plot of the Radical Right Wing Republicans that run the F*x Network. They have purposely obfuscated the posts on the OB in order to scuttle Firefly's message of beneficent Democratic socialist policies. Since they may clearly be associated with 'The Alliance' of the Firefly 'verse, I believe it's apparent that they want to turn us all into indentured servants, terraforming Mars and the moons of Jupiter for their evil imperial purposes. (zoid continues to spew self-contradictory rhetoric for an additional 30 minutes, until he drifts off to sleep in his mug of now-tepid Ovaltine)

To recap: #1. You misread my honest critique of the OB as a challenge; #2. Far be it from me to disappoint someone spoiling for a fight; #3. One should not take zoid too seriously, under any circumstances.

I'm not a hater. I don't hate anybody. "I consider myself more of a... 'hate stylist'". (Name the movie that's from and the actor who said it, for Prestige Points)...

Quizzically,

zoid

Glue? You mean they sniff glue over there? They never offered me any, the brutes. I bet it's Pip's fault. She's holdin out on me...

I resemble that tomfoolery comment

Can I ask, though - is Tomfoolery frowned upon at this board? Will I get in trouble if I fool with Tom? But he's so much fun with the foolery!

Welcome! Having fun with the emoticons, eh

I as well have thought about the fate of the OB and have come to the conclusion that its demise is probably sooner than later. ie Fox will not want to pay for a board that services another studios movie.

2. My mum always told mt brothers and I to "take it out on the front lawn". She knew it would end in tears. My mum ain't here. Tom's in for some trouble.

Haven't read 'The Liveship traders' yet. Hoping to get them on my birthday (big hint to hubby).

Lord, you'll not regret it. The Liveship Traders was possibly the best trilogy I've ever read. I'm not quite sure what it was that grabbed me, but it really struck a chord deep down.

Some of the responses reflect the misconceptions and feelings of board regulars from both sites. I think the comments made in this thread were a joke and should not be taken out of context or made to be something other than how they were intended.

I still do not understand why people can't realize we are all BROWNCOATS!

Can't see theres any animosity. Some people were concerned Golden Fool's comments would be taken out of context and could result in animosity, reassurance was given that it was just a joke. End of story.

Trouble with writing is that different people read the same words in different ways. Can lead to all kinds of misunderstandings. I always read my stuff through twenty times to try and make sure it can't be misintepreted and still I some times fail (damn buffy.nu to that very special hell)

I would advise anyone going into this thread to read it all the way through.

I read the thread over at OB, and jeez at least one guy is really peeved at GoldenFool. Well, I ain't...

Don't nobody need to start no shooting war, unless it's "Shirts vs. Skins" with water cannons in a suitable bog. Seriously(?), it's just a little pigtail-pulling and shin-kicking.

That would be your Porsche Boxter, right? You know if you treat it right -- keepin' it properly lubed and such, not just waxed -- you can put a million miles on it and still get a nice tight ride, just like the day it rolled off the assembly line...
