Me & Sonisall are workin' our way through the series, he's seen some eps prior, but not many due to his lack of age in the past. But he's old enough now, so we'll hit every one on this round before finishing with the movie (which he's never seen before).

Just finished Shindig, and wow, this show just gets better with each viewing. I expected to be a tiny bit like "I seen this so many times" while watching, but it's truly never like that. "I'm okay" gets me every gorram time.
And so much fun to share this with my boy!

There's no place I can be since I found Serenity.

I've lost count of the number of times I've watched it. Unlike some others who can watch a random episode, with me it has to be in order and the complete series in as short a time as possible. Then I watch all the bonus content before going on the BDM.

My son was also the first person I turned on to the show, and luckily he was already old enough to appreciate it. He may not be as big a flan as me, but it's pretty close. Still my favorite series of all time.

Were it not for Star Trek TOS I would say so as well.

Today I came to the conclusion that seeing Serenity without watching Firefly first would be like seeing Return Of The Jedi without having seen Star Wars & Empire Strikes Back.

Okay, I listed it wrong, we last saw Shindig, NOW we saw Safe. Sonisall (who plans to be an astrophysicist) totally approves of the space scenes.

HAven't actually WATCHED the eps in quite a while. But I can recall 'em pretty well, they're burned into my memory banks. It's time to look again.

Do you have the Map of The Verse?
If Sonisall is to be astrophysicist, might be cool to point out to him that Safe is the episode from which we can deduce Firefly's max speed. Taking Book from J-whatever to the Alliance medical place on Green-wherever at max speed took 10 hours, so 5 hours of acceleration then 5 hours of deceleration. Decent teachable moment.

I'm sure he'd find the map interesting, but only in the way he could point out the impossibilities of it all.

I have to admit, there are scenes which I enjoy re-watching, but there are almost always other, minor events or comments, that do crop up every time, that I had missed or some how forgotten.

One of my all time favs though, is when Zoe asks Mal what if one of the passengers finds their stolen cargo and Mal says they won't, and she asks why not, to which Mal says... " Cuz ? " .

Never fails to amuse!

The series is replete with amazing dialogue, and the movie is a bitter-sweet yet glorious ending IMO.

A lot of good people died for that "glory". But that's what happens when you fight a war.

Also, ever notice that what the Operative says to Mal at the end is eerily similar to what Deckard says to Rachel in Blade Runner ...

Operative says I can't promise they won't come after you.

Rachel asks Deckard, What if I go north? Disappear. Would you come after me, hunt me? Deckard says, No, no I wouldn't. I owe you one... but somebody would.

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

I have not sit down and watched the series in order in quote some time. Going to have to start this week. It's always bitter sweet for me, even though I thoroughly enjoy it.

Then mix it up, watch it in the originally scripted and filmed sequence.

Well, we watched Serenity a couple of nights ago, my Son's reaction was that the movie would have been 100% perfect if only Wash hadn't been so haphazardly killed. He gets why Joss did it, but still regrets the decision. I reach. He also said he didn't mind the minor change in tone from the series as he views Serenity as a wrap-up as opposed to a part of the continuing adventures of the series.
Then last night he puts on Train Job again.
A new Browncoat in my house.
Shiny.

Hi all. First post so be gentle!!

Could not agree more. Going back to 2005 when I had never heard of firefly, I came across a review of Serenity in the Scottish daily record. It said the movie deserves to be up with Star wars as a bona fide sci-fi classic and gave it 5 out of 5 stars. Having watched it, although I enjoyed it enough to purchase the HDDVD , I just didn't see the Star wars comparison.
Fast forward to 2014 and the age of Netflix, I watched the solitary season of Firely and have just watched Serenity again. This time around I really cared about the characters and even burst into tears on that shot of River after her fight with the reavers. I gave it a huge round of applause at the end!!! Ok, now I see it!!!

I have made plans to watch Serenity tonight. I have been to the chagrin of some, spending a lot of time at the site. It makes me long for the simpler side of life, to shut up and just watch the movie.
