Okay. . .those of us who are . . .enthusiastic. . .about classic firearms have all agreed that Jayne's pistol is an old US Navy Lemat.

I found, not too long ago, a FF Fansite where someone posted a series of pictures showing how he'd modified a Lemat replica to look like Jayne's.

Anyone know where that site is?

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

I sure wish I did Static. I would love to see the modifications he made so I can duplicate them. Was the link on this site?

Did you mean this thread?

http://fireflyfans.net/thread.asp?b=13&t=2145

The pictures that were there seem to be gone now; mabe you can contact Birdie about them?

Mal: "We're not gonna die. We can't die, Bendis. You know why? Because we are so... very... pretty. We are just too pretty for God to let us die."

Not only are the pics gone, but the link to his site is no longer good. Bird has also not visited the site since Feb of this year.

Not sure how I missed this thread originally. Wish I had seen it.

Heya. It looks like the site Birdie linked to is no longer available... but you can go to the main page: http://www.per4mance.co.uk/
and there is a link to contact Birdie once you enter the main site.
good luck!

Thanks Liz.

The email on the contact link is the same as the email in the posts in the old thread. I fired off an email to see if Birdie may have the pics cached somewhere else. I let everyone know if I get a response.

I'm editing the costumes section over at www.browncoats.com. I haven't given much thought to starting a subsection for information on prop replicas, but if there is interest I'd be happy to put up links or instructions on the site. I hope you're successful in tracking the information down!

Here is the email I got back from Birdie:

Quote:

"Hi Carl,

You can check out pictures of the replicas I built of Mal & Jayne's pistols at my website: http://www.per4mance.co.uk/New%20Pages/props.html

Mal's pistol was a custom built revolver built by an SFX props house and is NOT based on an existing weapon (I have spoken to a guy from the company that built it)

Jayne's gun was a LeMat cap'n ball revolver/shotgun, with numerous greeblies removed.

It is very expensive to build conversions from Denix or other civil war replica pistols in terms of both materials, source weapon and time invested. I may sell my pistols on Ebay at some point.

Simon"

You can check out pics of Mal & Jayne's sidearms here: http://www.per4mance.co.uk/New%20Pages/props.html

Cool looking replicas. There are also some interesting pieces from Farscape, Joss's comic "Fray", Buffy, Underworld, and Minority report.

Birdie is one busy browncoat.
