Serenity is planned for a release date of April 22, 2005!

DarkArchon posted this news already but I felt it needed it's own thread. Thanks for the heads up to us non-OB folk, DarkArchon.

Great news indeed! Although the joke about "Mal's death" was about enough to give me a heart attack at first....

If we have to wait in the UK like we do for lots of films i'm going to fly to the US. It will bankrupt me of course but theres noway i'm going to be left downloading a shoddy copy. I might just tie in my visit in with the world premiere. If not i'm definately going to the London premiere. Will it be a Leiscester square gig, i can't imagine what its going to be like, oooh, i'm so excited.

Well, I reckon this settles the whole "before or after Star Wars" question. I couldn't be more delighted by this!

"Mal's death," indeed! That Whedon-y prankster! My, but that made for an ominous blip in my EKG!

It's REALLY HAPPENING, gentlefolk!!!

And, as a side benefit, Maniac and any other tax-preparin' folk will have had a few days to gather their wits (and make up for lost REM-time) and be fresh for all the BDM parties!

Less than a year to go, peeps.....

Keep flyin'!

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

Shiny news indeed!

It is encouraging that Joss says this is the release date he wanted. I imagine he tried to schedule for a date that was not conflicting w/ other box office heavy hitters.

The message I sent to Universal, asking if they plan on releasing it simultaneously worldwide:

Quote:

I'm really looking forward to Joss Whedon's film "Serenity" based on his brilliant tv series "Firefly", and was wondering if the film will be released on the same day worldwide.

I live in South Africa, and had to wait a few months for the region 2 DVDs to be released so I could import them from the UK. It would be shiny if I could watch the film along with other fans, and not have to avoid visiting some of my favorite Firefly websites like FFF, 10Forward, Buffistas, etc.; for fear of seeing plot spoilers there.

Thanks for helping to keep Serenity flyin'.

I suppose it would help if a bunch of us ask them, after personalizing it to our locales. You can read the short legalese notice at http://www.universalstudios.com/homepage/html/contact_us/ and then send your message using the form at

When I find my OB password I'll post to PttP's thread http://forums.prospero.com/n/mb/message.asp?webtag=foxfirefly&msg=1563

also.
