Yes, another poll. Because people seem to still be interested (at least, they're still voting) and because I'd be at a bit of a loss if I weren't carrying around a notebook with all the votes in it at this point.

So, a Firefly Guest Cast Review.

The rules:

One vote per person. For one character of either gender -- your favorite Firefly guest character (i.e., anyone not Mal, Zoe, Kaylee, River, Simon, Jayne, Book, Wash, or Inara). You're free to choose anyone else, major or minor, as you like, but if you choose a not-so-obvious character, it would be nice if you'd also give a brief description, to help me keep track of the votes.

No vote changing. Once you've voted, that's it.

Poll runs till June 4rd.

FINAL RESULTS

Jubal Early - 9
Badger - 7
Saffron - 4
Nandi - 2
Adlai Niska - 2
Petaline - 2
Atherton Wing (1)
Commander Harker (Bushwhacked) (1)
Tracey - 1
Madagascar Cobb* - 1

*Ask Gunhand if you need a reminder of who this is.

My mind is drawing a blank...what's the name of the old man that tortures Mal and Wash in War Stories? He was soooooooo convincingly bad, I want to vote for him. I'll bet most guys vote for Saffron!

Hmmmm. This is tough. I reallllly liked that evil captain of the other ship in OOG. He was hot--in a bad way, but hot. Also, I liked the sherrif-guy in The Train Job (he was a bad guy in Mel Gibson's "Payback") but I liked him as a good guy in Firefly. But I think I'm going to have to go with Jubal. He was the most fascinating, IMO.

Malicious, oh-great-at-remembering-names!

I really liked the sherrif guy in Train Job too. (Wasn't his name Val in Payback?) Anyway, I don't think I'm as familiar with some names as you are. Who was Jubal? The scenes I remember, but the names...

And what was the name of the evil man in War Stories?

Yeah his name was Val in Payback, which is a great movie. "Hubba Hubba".

I vote for Niska, because he's eviiiiiil.

Male villain/guest star: Badger. Most potential and flexibility. He can grow into one of those really sinister badguys that chills you when you see him, or one of those 'roll your eyes' kinds of bad guys that you enjoy watching Mal get the better of. He can be comic or straight. Definitely my fave.

Oh yeah. . .and he's got a very fine hat.

Thanks for the help. I definately vote for Niska. Jubal Early didn't comes across near as scary to me, it was almost comical when River was freaking him out! And wasn't that the episode where Simon walks around without his shirt on??

Oh Please - not Badger!!

It's Dick van Dyke from Mary Poppins in a bowler hat (for Gawd's sake luv')

Niske is interestingly demented, but a better version of this was Laurence Olivier in The Marathon Man.

The most likely character to re-appear would be Saffron/Yolanda/Bridget as she has been in 2 episodes already.

I would like to vote for Atherton Wing though, if he is ostracised and down on his luck after the humiliation of the swordfight with Mal, then he could be a very good scheming villain (possibly causing problems for Mal and the crew without them ever knowing it?)

The Alliance guy who interviewed all the crew separately. His ability to remain 'stoic' in the face of Wash's ongoing raving about Zoe was wonderful.

(And the scenes in the gag reel of the same were priceless ... the stuff 'Wash' said to try to get the guy to laugh was fab!)

There are 4 parts to the gag/blooper reels. The next-best bit, after Wash's talk with the Alliance captain, is the oh-so-serious sweep of the cargo hold while everyone is looking at the dead guy ... tip: keep your eye on Mal!

Again, I will not leave a lady undefended. Therefore, I vote for Saffron. Okay, so she's no lady, she's Mal's wife (ba-dum, pish! Here all week, ya-da, ya-da, veal, bartenders and waitresses, etc). But hey, she's married to so many guys, surely deserves something for putting up with that many men?
