When I saw the series on FOX there was a little intro that both Book & Mal narrarated on what kind of setting the tv series is taking place. They spoke about the earth getting used up, a little background information on both the Alliance & the Browncoats and why they went to war, and the whole point of living independently from the Alliance. Book stated how if you had a ship and a gun you could get work. Mal stated his reason for flying in a ship: to work and to keep on flying.
There were two intros altogether during the short run of the series. I was counting on both of them to be on the DVD, but they aren't. Does anybody know where I can get a recording of this? Or does anybody have a video recording of this? And I do know for sure that it is not on the DVD, others have told me that it is (as an easter egg). But i've checked out DVD info websites and the only egg is of Baldwin singing his 'Jayne' song.

There's no place I can be since I found Serenity.

You can download the intros from this site:

http://www.have-dog.com/firefly/

Look on the right side of the screen, just above the "Continue Firefly" petition link.

I have Mal's intro downloaded, but for some reason the one from Book won't work for me. I am sure that neither of these are on the dvds, but I wish they were, and I don't understand why they were not included.

There are 3 intros, Mal does 2 slightly different ones.

"...we're still flyin'."
"That's not much."
"It's enough." Malcolm Reynolds and Simon Tam - Serenity

The Jayne easter egg is him singing the Balad of Jaynestown. It's on Disk Four in the special features, when you can highlight Joss singing the Balad of Serenity take and push left on your arrow buttons till the sidebar on the left is highlighted and then hit enter.

That makes it work.

Well I'm morally opposed to good deads, but cookies them I'm all for.

Also if any of y'all have seen the original version of Serenity the intro to it is very different than any of the other ones. The guy doing the voiceover sounds like J.E.B. Stuart, very Southern. Which is probably why Fox axed it. The bastages.

Thanks ECGORDON.
Now my life is complete.
Well not really.
But it is for today.
Still need to finish college.
Then get a job.
Maybe serve my country.
Get some leadership experience.
Start a family.
Buy a house.
Have an excuse to by a lawn mower because I will have a lawn to mow it with.
Have kids.
Be tired all the time but happy.
But other than that, my life is now complete.
Thanks again.

FORRESTWOLF

Gunhand -

My understanding (heard elsewhere on fff.net) is that the original pilot voiceover is none other than our hero Joss! I have to say that it sounds plausible, based on the Joss interviews I've heard.

Regardless, it IS a nifty southern accent, and I like it almost as well as my favorite voiceover (Book's).

That was Joss? Huh. (the Mal-like huh)

Okay now I have to watch it again because that didn't sound anything like him. Which means he could be a great actor if he tried...well okay maybe not, but that didn't sound like a put-on Southern accent at all.

At first I thought it was the voice of the guy that played Quantrill in "Ride With the Devil". A movie which tangentially could be considered Firefly-like. If ya stretch some. Hehe.

I found it cheap on DVD the other day. It's one of the kids' faves already. I'm thinking of using it in one of my college classes someday.
