VELOXI

Hi there, folks, how are you? My name is Brian, and I'm a new fan of FF. I don't have time to watch much TV, so I missed FF's initial run on Fox. On another forum, many of my friends kept quoting the show and telling me I just had to watch it. Well, after reading the Army transcript wherin they used FF quotes, I realized I had to check it out, so I snagged the DVD of the series and began watching it yesterday with the first two part episode, Serenity. I must say that I was incredibly impressed with the characters and the writing, and am now a member of the converted. :) I'm now looking forward to watching the rest of the series, as well as the movie which is apparently in the works.

Anyway, I just wanted to say hello and that I look forward to discussing the show with you all. Thanks for reading, and have a wonderful day. :)

Hey there Veloxi, and welcome to the madhouse, don't worry most of us ain't as crazy as we may at first seem. Well except me, I'm that crazy, so best to just ignore 90% or so of what I say...

I'm still trying to figure out what to do for the Shindig here, I'm thinking maybe I'll try to figure out a way to do some singing...that'd be hi-lerious and suchlike.

For "Bee"??? You were going to use those hard-earned dollar bills to get "honey" from Cageybee??? She is not that cheap! I'll have you know that she wouldn't do that for less than a five!

Welcome, Veloxi! We're glad to have you!

Don't worry too much about Mal-licious and Gunhand -- they get like that sometimes, but they're harmless. Just don't make any sudden movements, and they'll wander off in search of food, some other thread, or (in Gunhand's case) a certain redheaded Firefly guest star.

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

Welcome to the board Veloxi. It's great to have another new fan join our little (but quickly expanding) community.

Glad to hear you picked up the DVD set. You will soon view it as one of the best purchases you ever made. Now get out there & convert as many of your friends & family as possible.

Keep in mind that the movie, "Serenity", starts filming next week and will be released in early 2005.

In regards to Gunhand, just don't make eye contact and don't show fear. He can smell fear.

Fear and cheese.

We don't really understand the cheese thing, but we've learned not to ask too many questions.

Welcome, Brian! FYI: none of us got to see the 'Serenity' pilot until the DVDs came out ... IMO, the fact that the characters were compelling and understandable without any sort of 'intro' was wonderful ... especially since they were far from two-dimensional.

Enjoy the rest of the series. I'm sure you'll be like many of us, eager for an excuse to 'have to' watch them all again.

Cheers,

Now I'm all jealous. I remember the feeling I had after I watched the DVD of Heart of Gold and realized I had no unviewed Firefly left. VERY depressing.

Welcome aboard, Veloxi! A little Firefly a day keeps insanity away!

Beg to differ on the pilot - I caught it in broadcast when gorram fox advertised it as "the final episode." Taped it too. That and Train Job were the ONLY episodes I had until the TRS80 bootleg DVDs, which pre-date the "official" release.

I've heard mention of these "bootleg DVD's" elsewhere. What exactly are they, folks taking the show off TV and burning 'em to DVD's? Was this done before there was an official release?

Sure was. Best $25 I ever spent. Not sure how TRS80 did it exactly - we never talked the tech - but he saved a lot of sanity before he had to shut down. If there's ever medals given for "Above and Beyond the Call of Duty for a Firefly Fan" he should be one of the first recipients, right after Haken.

I've since loaned mine out to a friend. She can't watch them on her DVD player, but she can watch them on her Mac.

Jeez, just don't ask him about the cheese, whatever you do! I'm sure it's one of his infamous "long stories" and I'm afraid that, this time, he might actually tell it. And then I'll have to BEG him to shoot me!
