Is it just me, or do Mal and Book seem to think alike. Think about it. In The Message, Mal and Book are discussing how they are going to trick Womack without actually talking about it. Tracey does not figure it out. I did not know either until the whole plan unfolds. In Our Mrs Reynolds, when Mal realizes that they are headed for a net, he looks immediately at Book. In Bushwhacked, Mal tells Simon to get his sister and Simon thinks that Mal is handing them over to the Alliance. Book steps in and tells Simon to just do it because he (Book) knows what Mal is thinking. I just feel like the two of them know how to work together very well, maybe because Book understands more about the decisions that Mal must make or what it takes to lead people? Any other thoughts?! Any other examples of this happening?!

Serenity: Sheperd to Inara :"I watched as a man shot the man I swore to protect, and I'm not even sure that he was wrong." (or something like that)

I think it is mostly just the fact that Book realizes that Mal is not the mean ol' man he pretends to be and that he does have a heart and so he realizes that whatever Mal does, it's the right thing (even if, it isn't necessarily the legal thing)

I also have this theory about Book being deeply intuitive and possibly even a reader

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
MAL: This is my scrap of nowhere. You go on and find your own.
SAFFRON: You can't just leave me here, on this
lifeless piece of crap moon...
MAL: Sure I can.
SAFFRON: I'll die.
MAL: Well, as a courtesy, you might start
getting busy on that, cause all this chatter ain't doin' me any kindness.
