We learn Mal's surname right from the start. Kalee's and Inara's we first hear in Shindig. I believe we first hear Simon and River's in Safe. We find out Jayne's in Jaynestown. While I see these references that Wash's surname is Warren, I can't recall the episode that it's mentioned, if indeed there is one. And I do wonder what Zoe's maiden name was.

You have the right to the remains of a silent attorney. If you cannot afford one, tough noogies!

I don't think so. I wonder if Zoe took Wash's name -- doesn't quite seem her style. Maybe he took hers.

As for Simon, we first hear his full name in "Serenity," when Dobson says, "Simon Tam, you are bound by law to stand down."

Zoe Warren, wasn't it? I remember hearing it, but I'm not sure where I picked it up from.

Wash's last naem isn't Warren. It's Washburn. That's where he gets the nickname of "Wash." His real first name is Hoban.

According to the Official Serenity Visual Companion book, Zoe's maiden name is Alleyne. It's in "A Brief History of the Universe circa 2507 A.D.", and it's written by Joss Whedon himself, so I guess he would know.

I got the screen saver from the Serenity movie site and it has Wash listed as Jerry Lee Warren. Also, I recently rewatched the whole series and didn't ever hear Wash called Hoban Washburn. I remember hearing the name, too, but apparently it's not officially his name.

THEREALME

Due to mumbling in the Message, some folks thought that Mal said, "Thanks, Jerry Lee" in the presence of Wash and Kaylee. In fact, he said, "Thanks, Kaylee". The Jerry Lee name was never Wash's.

Then there was the rumor that Wash's true name was Washburne Warren. The assumption was that Zoe would take his name, and she was listed places as Zoe Warren.

The Hoban Washburne name came up, blowing away Wash Warren, but oddly, Zoe was still listed with that Warren name in some places.

So far as I know (and I haven't seen the new book) we have never been given a surname for Zoe.
