Hello again everyone! I remember a previous thread where somebody suggested we mail local and national radio DJ's about Firefly. I was wondering why we don't start something similar to the Firefly for the troops campaign for the DJ's. Who amongst us does not listen to the radio in the morning on the way to work? OK, I know some people don't but most do.

If we can get radio DJ's on our side, our platform for promoting Firefly would go from modest to enormous!

I don't know if its been brought up before or if its been discussed and rejected, but it seems like something we should try.

Respectfully,
NTXBrowncoat

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

I have spoke to two DJs for local radio stations here in Richmond. One is very interested in Firefly & I have sent him a copy of the DVD. He said he will watch it & then call me to tell me what he thinks. The other DJ says he would like a copy as well, but asked that I wait a couple of weeks before sending it to him. The station just underwent a management & format change & things are pretty crazy there right now.

I think that if we Browncoats can get Firefly into the hands of DJs, local entertainment reporters, and TV stations, we might be able to generate some free publicity for the DVD set and some interest in the movie.

I totally agree, and would add popular bloggers to the list (as I proposed in an earlier thread that no one responded to...) *sniff*

Please help Haken keep this site running by occasionally clicking on some of the sponsored ad links on the side of the page!

Does anybody listen to the BOB & SHERI show in the morning? Its a nation-wide talk show and they are hilarious...it would be perfect to get them involved.

getting busy on that, cause all this chatter ain't doin' me any kindness.

he played Wesly Crusher in Star Trek and has a blog that TONS of geeks watch...and he is just the kind of person to enjoy this show...so he would be a great person to send the show to.

ok, I got it now....

your first post read to me like *you* were introducing *yourself* as Wil Wheaton...

that's what made me do a double-take...

My mistake.

Oh, and to add something useful to this thread, let us not forget about our site-crashing, bandwith-eating friends at http://www.slashdot.org

OK, so how should we do this? Do we leave it in the hands of individual browncoats or do we organize it? I think it should be organized. Although all browncoats have great intentions, it is easy for things to be pushed to the back burner.

I agree...organized would be very good...
btw...how can we get ahold of the person who runs this site? I got some questions.

From what I have been told Haken runs this site. You could send him a message from the community page. Click his on the left of your screen and a message window will be available to send him a message, I think. I have never tried it myself.

I'd like to second sending a box set to Wil Wheaton I occasionally read his blog and I think he could definately attract some new viewers to Firefly. Plus sometimes he goes on tech tv so perhaps he could plug Firefly there.

Also has anyone thought of donating Firefly box sets to libraries. That could get people who might not have a friend who owns the set and aren't willing to pay for a show they've never seen hooked on the show.

SHADESIREN

I just gave my original VHS copy of Serenity to Andy Savage ( www.andysavage.com) and his co-stars on Monday, the 17th. I won tickets in a contest (No Doubt & Blink 182). I had to play a game.. I'm actually in the audio clips part... doing something so embarrassing, I'm not sure I ought to share :P

Anyhow, I told them about Firefly, and gave them the tape to watch. I'm going to email them again soon, to find out if they watched it.
