When I watched Serenity, I fell in love with River's wardrobe. I've been searching around the internet for anywhere I can get my hands on a River Tam costume, something that actually looks like what she wore on screen. So far however, my searches have not been rewarded. If anyone knows where I can buy River outfits, I'd really appreciate it. I would particularly like to get my hands on the dress she wore in the Maidenhead bar, or her battle dress.

Well the prop store of london sells the ACTUAL River costumes - they are REALLY expensive though. They DO have a lot of good comparison photos too though!

Ooh, thanks. On that second one, I found a great link to a website that sells costumes specifically for Firefly, Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, Star Trek, and Harry Potter. Of which the first three happen to be a few of my absolute favorite things in the 'verse. 'Spensive, but its going on my list of things to buy the minute I strike it rich!

It might be easiest if you made your own costume, because Serenity was filmed it 2005 there is a good chance that the dresses are discontinued, I am making my own River dress for halloween, the one River wore during the bank heist, but good luck in your search I hope you can find them.

Possibly, but the farthest my sewing ability has ever extended is to cross-stitching. I'm not sure I could handle actually making a dress.

I know that it is later than Halloween and I hope that your River costume turned out amazing, but if you do want to sew a River costume in the future, and your sewing skills aren't very up to par, use a sewing machine

I considered that, but me and sewing machines have never exactly gotten along either. It's alright, I'll continue my search and someday show up to ComiCon in full River Tam costume. As far as Halloween goes, I ended up being Master Chief this year, so it wasn't a total loss.

An easy way to do River would be to try pulling together the dress sweater combo she wore in Safe, it is pretty well known as far as the series goes because that episode is built around her and Simon. I wasn't able to pull together the bank heist dress in time, and my best friend and I both LOVE that episode, so I went with that. Sorry your costume didn't work out
