I think Frem does. Or he helped with some sort of crisis in the game anyway. You'll see him around.

Ah, yeah - I don't play Eve Online any more - I had in fact all but quit when the whole Red Alliance/Goonswarm versus BoB/BoD came to a head, and when the devs started BANNING people within the RA/G supply line with the lame excuse "suspected compromised account", on top of the already existing blatant cheating, I went and devoted quite some time to keeping RA/G well supplied with attack frigates, I could roll out a hundred of them, fully armed equipped and loaded, every week.

It was amusing to see BoB/BoD finally hoisted on their own petard with the timely aid of one of their own who had a sudden attack of conscience though, and CCP has never EVER actually admitted the full scale of the cheating that went down. http://www.escapistmagazine.com/articles/view/editorials/op-ed/847-Jum

But the game itself, while the engine is good, and the crafting (with the exception of the padded in T2/T3 crap) system is the finest I have ever seen anywhere in an MMO, the problem comes from the fact that the game is essentially run by the same pack of griefers who ruined Ultima Online - they didn't even make the game, SSI did in fact, and they bought it when they wound up thrown off every MMO in existence. As such, the whole game and combat engine is so loaded in favor of the pirates and griefers it's not even funny, and folks who maybe wanna do something else tend to eventually get rightly sick of being handed over on a plate to them - I mean who wants to pay $15 a month just to be the victim of basement dwelling trolls over and over via a game engine which ENSURES you have no chance ?

I did get some pleasure for a short time, in between cancelling my account and final log-off, baiting and hunting said punks with my stealth bomber, but frankly it was just too goddamned easy, since the game hands it all to you on a plate and thanks to their veritable I-WIN button they really don't have any actual skill, so the fight is all but over the instant it starts if they're up against anything but a totally defenseless hauler or miner. And as a matter of fact, I've seen a MINING BARGE kill some of these bastards, by going out there with a PVP loadout and combat drones.

So unless you're some basement dwelling troll who needs to stroke their ego with a permanent I-WIN setup, Eve Online isn't worth it.

Oh, and as an afterthought - it's not just IN the game, but also just how willing some of these scum are to take it offline and into peoples lives, attempting to ruin the relationships, employment, and such of the other sides forces, and in one especially over-the-top case, using social engineering to identify the other sides titan pilot and have his power shut off to keep him offline while they attacked a starbase.

So basically a good game run by a pack of slime who deliberately foster a community so vile you couldn't pay me to be a part of it.

Lol alot of frustraition I sense. Haha I missed the BOB days, but my corp was in that war. Unfortunitly im actually Blue to Goons and I have to agree with alot of your comments but not sure all of them. Yes there are some of those in eve (goons especially) that are just happy to screw others over. But in a way I like that about Eve. Not that I would do that myself, im in a white hat corp which has a strict code of conduct which must be obeyed but if there wasnt those out there that was willing to just screw others over then eve wouldnt be quite the same. For instance if you head into Jita, you just know anyone in there will be more then happy to scam you out your hard earned isk but the fact that the whole game is dangerous no matter where you are is something that makes things just that little bit harder.

Also CCP have made some serious mistakes in the past, but I do believe they have learnt from them. They have done some amazing work over the last year or so to fix many problems that they have created in the verse. For example it used to be if you wanted to do griefing in high sec it was really easy. You just stole some miners can and then when they got annoyed and shot you then you would kill them and laugh. Now if you take a can from someone you dont just become red to them, you become red to everyone so anyone will kill you. Its even not so easy to do high sec wardecks anymore, wardecking noobs or miners to get easy kills. Now the guys that got wardecked have the ability to hire mercenaries to join in the war and protect them.

Also if you just want to fight and not have the whole nullsec problems of politics and so on, then faction warfare has had a lot of work on recently and it is now actually worth while doing. Ok nullsec is still broken, especially sov mecahanics but that is on there list to fix sometime after they re-do player owned stations, and make nullsec outposts destructable.

Oh and the best thing they have brought in lately is time dialition in my opinion, which means it doesnt matter if the enemy has 1000 people on field before you try and jump in, your not going to get lagged out and have black screens or stuck modules anymore, everything works : )

Oh I doubt they "learned from it" so much as their staff, over time, is no longer *entirely* consisting of griefer scum - and for-the-lulz bullshit that is financially counterproductive is less tolerated, that's not so much an ethical advancement as the financial conditions in Iceland coming up on the heels of a deal with a tabletop gaming company being blown up totally on the sidelines because of their own unprofessional conduct, which pissed a potential for massive cash right down the drain since they couldn't act like rational adults even in a business deal.

Ever since, yeah they've tried to stop shitting on the empire space crowd, since they *need* that profit base, but memories are long and folks like me tend to hold a grudge about that crap, you know ?

Bear in mind, I *can* fight, I just would rather not when the game not only hands you the other guy on a plate, but encourages you to do it. Cases in point: Insurance payouts for being CONKORDDEN in Empire Space, all gain, no pain. Zero ability to block scans.

As for bait and bounce, I would pop a can under a miner and have them load to it, so when the can flipping punk shows up, it isn't the miner he goes red to, it's me... And since they're total cowards, I knew EXACTLY how to do it - I was nearby in a Manticore stealth bomber with T2 launchers loaded and ready, they usually never knew what hit them.

I never did the politics thing though, I mostly operated solo - even for the time I was with a player corp I functioned as a self-sufficient subchapter of it, cause while a bit of mission running is entertaining, mostly I like to BUILD things, and happen to be damn good at it, or playing the oft-maligned support role, I mean, I DO have an Orca fer crying out loud.

For missions/complexes, while I did have the support-mission Osprey, more often I used an entire freakin Typhoon battleship, 4/4 tractor/salvagers, and it's massive drone bay allowed deployment of shield/repair drones, plus enough cargo expanders and power grid stuff to make it really damned effective as a support and lootboat. (Most MMOs I play White Mage/Cleric, obviously)

Oh, and that Wreathe they're about to jump, that ain't a Wreathe, it's a friggin Prowler, with a launcher FULL of defenders, warp stabilizer, heavy shield tank and a cloaking device, oh, and it can outrun you in warp, good luck!

Anyhows, I got rightly sick of being treated like a black freedman in 1860 Richmond simply cause I wasn't a griefer/scammer, and VERY sick of the folks running the game not only encouraging this, but bending the "rules" of the game to promote it, while being themselves complete jackasses about it.

You can imagine just how MUCH enjoyment I got out of putting one in their eye every time the bloody hundred (the rifter-swarm arm of the RA) mobbed down one of their big boys.

So it's not like I am too interested in going back to a place where the things *I* want to do are considered "unworthy" by the very folk who most benefit from them, but also an incitement to endless harrassment and chicanery, egged on by the devs themselves, when they're not directly assisting it.

Thats been changed, if your concorded then you recieve 0 isk payout.

No there isn't 0 ability anymore, but there used to be with tech 3's. They changed it slightly so now tech 3's are 90% unscanable, and even then you need a full set of prospector implants and full level 5 scanning skills to have half a chance.

Fortunitly there is no need for that trick anymore, just sit there cloaked and wait for someone to take a can anyway. Then he will be red to everyone, but since the changes of red to everyone on agression and loss of reimbursements for ganking you tend to notice a lot less of that behaviour in highsec. Its not until I have many billions of isk in a freighter that I have to start worrying about it, whereas before I would probably require webbing support for a bil or two.

Can I have your stuff lol (for those who dont know, thats the standard response when someone deceides there leaving game)

Its a shame your one of those that got annoyed by CCP all that time back, I like the new direction eve is going. I dont pretend its perfect but its going somewhere good. Wormholes are just about perfect as they are, faction warfare is actually worthwhile doing now isk and pvp wise, incursions are still awesome source of isk. Mining has just been re-vamped so now miners have alot more tank and lots of ore space, and there are more upgrades for mining in the future aswell.
