Miss FlyHead over at the "official F*x board" is spearheading (is that the word?) the Banner for the first day of filming and asked me to post this notice over here, for all interested parties...

<< Back in March DFergusonATL had the brilliant idea of sending a banner to our favorite creator, cast & crew to wish them success with Serenity. Since that time we have thrown around other ideas, but the banner seemed the simplest & easiest. This has also been confirmed by our favorite BDMP (Big Damn Movie Producer), who knows a banner is coming & has helped tp ensure that it will get to the right place on the right day.

It is now time to kick this project into gear. The goal is to raise enough money to purchase a 4x8 digital banner. I will be designing it (with input from all of you) and the company I work for will be producing it. The banner will cost $365 plus shipping. If we can raise a little less than $400, that should be plenty. If we raise a little more, rather than dealing with refunding, I will try (have to talk to Kristen!!) & roll that over into our DVD to Troops fund, which still has a balance. That balance will hopefully be benfiting another branch of the military yet this year.

All I ask is that you do it in the next few days, if you prefer this method.

This project is time sensitive. We have two weeks to collect the $$, make the banner (all done by computer • easy-peasy!) & ship it. The order for the banner was entered here at the Neff Co. this past Friday. The ship date we needed is in place. Now we have some time to get the money together & to design the banner.

I hope I covered all the vital fund raising info in this post. If not, I know ya'll will be pointing out the shortcomings soon & I will edit, update, whatever is necessary!

Thanks to DFerguson for getting the ball rolling idea wise, thanks to My Orange Hat for helping me work the Paypal stuff & thanks to everyone who participated in the original thread for keeping this idea alive! You know who you are. ;)

EDIT: There seems to be a little misunderstanding. I am not, repeat NOT, trying to raise oodles of extra $$ for DVD to the Troops. That boat has sailed (pun intended). I just meant that if I have an extra $20 to $30 dollars left, that is what I was planning on doing with it. As soon as we reach $390 to $400, I will say "STOP!! We have enough!"

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

I figured they would get the money in less than 24 hours. Sent in my PayPal donation.

I hope we can get a pic of the banner before they ship it, or perhaps someone who lives within driving distance of Universal Studios can get a pic of it hanging up on the set.

It's legit. I promise! Thanks for your help! Browncoats do indeed rock as someone just said.

We are now discussing the message that will be on the banner. RJRoberson is compiling all the suggestions given so far & new ones are still welcome. We have until midnight tomorrow to vote/decide which is best. Then we'll use the results to determine the message.

I'll ask him if he can post it over here too, so input from all of you can be included. In this way even those who couldn't or didn't get the chance to donate $$ can still be a part of this project.

Thanks for the post Flyhead. It is always nice to have a regular from the OB stop in.

If RJRoberson will post here I am sure he will get quite a few suggestions.
