keep in mind this is pure fantasy, conceived by a mind with WAY too much free time, but what if...

turns out the reavers are really vampires.
eatrh having been used up/destroyed, what have you, they gotta go some where...

also , wouldn't it be cool if our beloved crew picked up an new passenger, Spike (that is if he survives the finale)

it would be kinda good to see what 500 odd years would do to the character.(Remember, pure fantsy, too much time on my hands)

i think this type of thing would be very cool, and would also tie the whole Jossverse together, but it would also, at the same time, cheapen the ENTIRE joss verse. which is why as cool as it would be, i hope that it wouldnever come to be.

if anyone feels the above is thew dumbest idea you've ever heard, i apologise for wasting your time, i just needed to get this out of my head.

It's actually not a BAD idea. I once read a fic where Spike was on the ship and River gave him a new name. I always wanted the author to go on with it, but that never happened.

Yeah, actually, that would make a perfectly plausible explanation for Reavers. Also, Spike with our crew; That'd be so cool. And it could turn out that Shephard Book is a member of the Watcher's Council, or whatever they are called 500 years after Giles reforms them.... That would explain his mysterious past. I like it!

in my far too much leisure time, i got the notion...what if spike's hair is blue, instead of platinum, when they find him? is his brain contaminated? can he bleed from his eyes if his heart doesn't beat? plus, i just want to see one character from the jossverse with blue hair, just once.....it was this phase i had when i was younger, ok? my mom was so pissed that i wasted sooooo much blue kool-aid.

~Jayne- "i don't know. i passed out."

GUNHAND

Interesting theory but...

...if it's true I will cover myself in gasoline and pretend I'm a Budhist monk crica '65 right in front of the Chinese theatre in LA. I have a bunch of Zippos too, don't make me use 'em.

That would seriously muck up a good thing in my opinion.

I never had blue hair. Just purple. I'm a traditionalist.

Actually, I would've liked to see a Buffy or Angel episode in a space-opera environment, if only for speculation on vampire physics.

Vamps don't burst into flame under starlight, so apparently it's only the light of their home star that's fatal. So, how far away does a vampire have to get from Earth before Sol is just another spec of light?

If they don't have to breath, can vampires also survive the freezing temperatures and depressurization of hard vacuum?

The no entry unless invited; does that apply to ships or just personal quarters (shades of Early's musing on "River's room" in OiS)?

I think crossovers between the two 'verses would be a basic mistake; the two are founded on basically different paradigms. Mingling the two would only create confusion and drag both sotrylines down, imo.

I do generally enjoy it when authors interconnect their imaginative universes, if the fundamental workings of each world can be meshed into a comprehensible whole. This is where I think (and hope) S.M. Stirling is going with his various alternative history stories. But we have seen no hint of anything of the supernatural in FF; it appears to be a straight-up, material-world sci-fi tale. To introduce a supernatural element after setting up the fundamental premises of its reality would be a jarring mistake.

I would, however, watch a Spike spin-off, or the further tales of the Slayer Army, but successfully crossing these two 'verses is probably not in the cards.

Oh, bugger! Now I have to wait for someone to wake up!

What, Illyria's hair isn't blue enough for you?

MAL: Sure I can.

MAL: Well, as a courtesy, you might start
getting busy on that, cause all this chatter ain't doin' me any kindness.

illyria's hair is not blue enough for me, no. its black too, or some similarly lack-of-color color. i want sky blue, like the gloves...which may not be sky blue.

Well, if we follow the premise, he'll probably have uglied up a bit. He'd be somewhere between 600-700 years old, which was long enough to give The Master cloven feet and not-so-human looks.

But a neat idea.

The Master didn't have hooves. You're thinking of Kakistos, the Greek --who was around for only one episode. The Master apparently wasn't that old. He just looked like Nosferatu, but all wrinkly-faced.

I think you're forgetting that Spike came back to life in the begining of Angel season 5...

Oops. Sorry -- let's put it down to end of semester brain fry. But I don't want James Marsters looking like Nosferatu, either!

:Finally stops due to migrane: Oww... Where's Simon Tam when ya need him?
Anyway, don't worry about spoiling it. I'd heard rumours.
My reason for updating this is 'cause I've thought of something... Maybe Book could be a descendant of (Robert?) Wood, from the last series of BtVS.
One more thing... Didn't Nathan Fillion appear as 'Caleb' (sp?) in BtVS?

In the tv series American Gothic was a character called Caleb, the boy that was fathered by the evil sheriff. I've still got two episodes of Buffy to go here but are Caleb's origins ever explained?

Somebody on ealier thread was talkin' about how both Firefly and the Buffy/Angel universe are the same and that after the Apocalypse we get the "Earth was was" and the demons are all banished. Could a Reaver simply be a Vamp that has lost his Demon side? just a thought....
