I just caught an old ep of 'Cold Case' last night guest starring Summer Glau as the 1980-something victim. (Her killers were certainly creepifying, let me tell you!)

I know Fillion has been on a few other shows for short or long term durations, but what about everyone else?

Inquiring minds want to know!

Well Nandy from Heart of Gold was on the Iron Chef not too long ago. Which was all manner of eerie to see.

Adam Baldwin has been on Angel (so they tell me I never have seen an episode) and Stargate:SG1.

And of course Ron Glass was on one of the best TV shows ever made Barney Miller, which is one of the few shows from my youth that I can still watch and find it hasn't lost any of its charm.

I'm sure there are a pile of them but I really don't watch as much TV as I used to.

Don't forget Nandy is the hoochy-mama Mom on The O.C. ... don't ask me how i know that... i plead the fifth on knowing this information.

Nathan was in Two Guys and a Girl (and a pizza place).

One day my mom was clicking through the stations and guess what she saw on the Mexican Channel (we have a lot of those, i live in arizona) she see's Adam Baldwin in a really weird movie where he's fighting a monster with a horn sticking out of its head...she had no clue what it was called though because it was dubbed with Spanish.

Jewel Staite was on an old show when she was like 14 called Flash Forward

Sean Maher played a really creepifying perv on CSI: MIAMI. it was really hard hating him.

....hmmm...i have to think of some others now...

Off the top of my head...

Summer Glau - Angel

Adam Baldwin - X Files, Angel, Stargate

Gina Torres - Angel, 24, Cleopatra 2525

Sean Maher - CSI Miami (? - not sure about that one)

Jewel Staite - Higher Ground, Wonderfalls (unaired episodes)

Ron Glass - Barney Miller, Friends (and lots, lots more)

Melinda Clarke (Nandi) - The O.C.

I know there are lots more(these are very talented people after all) but I can't remember at the moment. Maybe I'll pop over to IMDB and check...

*That's* why she looked familiar in HoG ... I knew I'd seen those eyes somewhere before. (I don't watch OC, not their target demographic, but saw maybe 10 minutes one night).

Which ep/storyline was Maher in CSI:M? It's possible I missed it entirely.

I saw the guy that plays Niska (can't think of his name right now) on Seinfeld. he played Mr. Penske of the Penske File. And just today I saw the same actor on the movie 13 Days (we're watching it in history). I don't think he's in it much, but I've only seen like the first 20 minutes so far. And, of course, there's Summer Glau's wonderful Angel episode "Waiting in the Wings."

annik:

Nathan Fillion portrayed 'The Wrong Private Ryan', the US Army Ranger Tom Hanks originally found and told that his brothers were dead. Nathan plays the role so convincingly, especially through the revelation that his brothers are 10 or 12 years old, to include his plaintive "I gotta get home".

Some may have thought 'Wrong Ryan' a bit of a weak character, but rewatch the scene (if you don't have "Saving Private Ryan" on DVD to watch every Memorial Day, shame on you). None of the other men exhibit anything but understanding in their reactions. Anybody who has served in our country's military knows and understands that the most horrific part of being a soldier isn't the prospect of getting shot, it is being separated from your loved ones. It's something unexpected, and damn near universal; nobody other than Spielberg ever made a point of putting it in a war flick twice. Remember Hanks' character says he's willing to follow any order -- no matter how pointless it may seem -- if it earns him the right to get home to his wife.

So -- definitely -- rewatch Fillion's portrayal of 'Wrong Ryan' and pay attention. Nathan's delivery is so real as to be uncanny and unnerving.

Respectfully,

zoid

Nathan Fillion did Miss Match, didn't he? And, of course, was Caleb on BtVS.

I think I saw Morena on laundry detergent commercial, where her roommate had borrowed her dress but she couldn't tell because the detergent worked so well. Anyone see that?

Nathan Fillion also had a small part in "Blast From the Past" with Alicia Silvertone and Brendan Frasier. He played the sleasy ex boyfriend.

He was also a priest in "Dracula 2000". (Man, that AND Caleb?!? Talk about typecasting! ha ha)

I also saw the guy that plays Jubal Early on a rerun of Law and Order the other day.

Alan Tudyk's in "A Knight's Tale" with Heath Ledger and "28 Days" with Sandra Bullock.

Yes, I remember the part well ... I'm always on the lookout for actors who 'made it big' but come from my hometown -- Fillion is one of them.

I think I've either caught him onscreen in most roles he's had, or at least heard of the roles. It's the other actors I'm less familiar with. (Excepting the marvellous Ron Glass, who was great in 'Barney Millar' and was great to see again in Firefly!)

... but no, I don't have a copy of SPR. 1) I don't think it's one of the all-time great war films (although I agree with your point about the movie portraying separation from home and family *extremely* well). 2) We don't celebrate Memorial Day in Canada.

Mindy Clarke was also in CSI (Vegas series), she played the head mistress / owner of a bondage club. One of her employees got killed and Grissom was trying to figure out who did it, of course, and he got to talking with 'Lady Heather' quite a bit. Turned out she could read him like an open book. But since CSI isn't into the private live of the main characters a lot, I'll guess we won't see her again... Shame.

That's where I knew her from.

Edit: We're just got third season of CSI here, aparently she'll appear again later in the season.

I only started watching both CSI series during summer reruns last year. For quite awhile, I prefered CSI:M to the original. But now, while I still love the 'team' and the kick-butt opening credits, if I see Horatio say something both smarmy and pithy, then put his sunglasses on as if punctuating his statement, I'm going to !!!

I'm looking forward to CSI:NY this autumn. Sinese (sp?) has the scariest eyebrows since Larry Hagman (JR Ewing).

NICOLACLARKE

Melinda Clark (Nandi) appeared in a couple of episodes of Xena season 2, as jealous-Amazon-turned-psycho-goddess Velasca. Lines include, "I like pain - I like what it makes people do..."

Gina Torres is also a Xena alumnus - she played Cleopatra in a season 3 episode. She has several fun, extremely innuendo-laden scenes with Autolycus (Bruce Campbell), and for that matter with Xena herself.

I believe Gina also did a bunch of Hercules eps as Nebula, a kinda warrior/sea captain character. Never saw those, though - anyone have any more details?

LOL For a while I couldn't stand Horatio. I've grown to love him. Hands-on-hips/sunglasses/weird speech 'n all.

I don't watch the original. I have a problem with the attitudes of some of the actors. And personally, I find Miami to be the better show. I too love the 'team' and the "kick-butt" opening credits.

And to keep this post SOMEWHAT Firefly related: I wonder if anyone will be turning up on NY?

I don't have much patience for Mexican Radio... i don't really like songs where someone is singing and i can't sing along. sadly there are several spots between here and Pheonix where thats all you get...luckily if i take Dead Cow Road (yes thats what its called) i generally miss those areas and hear a kick-ass station that has acoustic music sundays.

I saw Badger on a movie on SciFi channel this past weekend (not a very good one, about a ship in the Bermuda Triangle) with Judd Nelson and the guy who played (among other things!) the vampire Buffy had to defeat when she "came of age" and Giles took away her slayer abilities. And I saw YoSafBrige (Christina Hendricks) on an episode of Tru Calling (which, while not great, and perhaps not being renewed for a second season, was still more entertaining than 90% of what's currently showing).
And, of course, Gina Torres was in "Cleopatra 2525", a delightfully cheesy but short-lived sci-fi show.

Nathon was in some show on Lifetime I think, I passed the TV and saw him there, lucky catch. Jewel was in a movie called Cheats I think, that or Cheaters, she was a highschooler. Eh, I get an odd feeling when I see the crew dressed all different with different situations, crazy. Also, Mark Sheppard (Badger) was in an episode of Jake 2.0 (you've probably already forgotten about that over in the USA, but we've only just got it here).

Ron Glass also did a cameo in one episode of Star Trek Voyager as an alien rebel in the episode "Nightingale," When Ensign Kim was given command of a small civilian ship as part of some deal Voyager made (Glass' character was on his crew).

Unless we're discounting voice work, Adam Baldwin lends his vocal chords to Jackie Chan Adventures. Dunno who he voices, but I'm guessing it's Tohru (deep, rumbly, but somehow gentle-sounding).

And of course, Serenity (If she's a character, her CGI model might as well be considered an actor) made that small cameo in Galactica 2003.

I saw YoSafBrige (Christina Hendricks) on an episode of Tru Calling.

And Morena Baccarin will be voicing the Black Canary character on Cartoon Network's Justice League Unlimited (premieres Aug 7).

Look for Morena on the (fingers-crossed) Wonderfalls complete series DVD set when it finally comes out. She was set to be a recurring character on that show before Fox killed it.

And I did catch that episode of Jake 2.0 with Badger in it.

Adam Baldwin was in the movie Independence Day. He played a military guy in the scenes where they were training the amature pilots to go attack the alien ship.

I know Jewel was going to be a recurring character. Was Morena also joining or is that a typo?

Which episode of tru calling was it? I can't remember her being on the show for the life of me. I've only recently started watching it regularly.

and also I haven't seen it so far Gina was also on CSI las vegas. So many firefly characters have been on CSI. Its kinda fun playing find the firefly actors.

According to the imdb, it was episode 9, called "Murder in the Morgue" - I seem to remember something about Ms Hendrick's character's ex marrying someone else so she kills the bride or some such, playing a rather psychotic character rather than just manipulative and mean like YoSafBrige. (I'm only watching the episodes, not into the show enough to tape.)

JAYNE "Pain is scary..."

Her real name is Kimberly McCullough. She was also on a short lived CBS comedy this season called "The Stones." I thought it was funny. But, hey, everything I love gets cancelled.

Flash Forward actually. It was on Disney back in...96 I believe. I can't believe I forgot about that show. I loved it so much. (In case you're wondering I started watching Firefly because of the combination of Jewel and Joss.) I've seen her play 9 or 10 different characters so I was already a fan. And I'd always considered Buffy a masterpiece and Joss a genius.

Really obscure one here, just tidying up the DVDs and spotted one I got free with some magazine a year or two ago and still haven't watched, with Stephen Fry in it. But on the cast is Edward Atterton aka Atherton Wing. It's called "Relative Values" and maybe I'll watch it now. I'm sure he's been in loads of other stuff too he looked a bit familiar. Drat - now I'll have to go and look him up on imdb.
