BARLONG

Ok this is my first attempt to write something serious in a foreign forum. Well it’s my first try ever in a forum. I am feeling so sad this days and the reason is firefly. I first read about firefly during Christmas in a silly article about series you have to see. I did not pay a lot of attention but suddenly my eyes were caught by the word firefly and space cowboys. I read again with more attention and the next day I got the 14 episodes. That was the start. From the first episode I was in love. In love with all of the characters with the stories with everything. Next the movie, Then the comics then nothing. Nothing more. I read all the info for how they canceled it or how the director tried to revive it but the result is the same. Nothing. I am a little bit angry with the people who decided to cancel it but this is life. After all I am a positive thinking man so I hope in the future firefly will be up in the air again. The only problem is that the current actors will not be available (major problem). Closing I have to thank from the bottom of my heart all the people who worked in order to give such a marvelous result. Firefly I am waiting for the moment you will become live again!!!!

Welcome to the 'Verse, Barlong!
*Wishy hands barlong a vitual browncoat from the supply closet...Someone will be along shortly with the Mudder's Milk and to point you to the buffet

This is the only forum I've ever really joined, too. Been here about six years now...I wouldn't get too discouraged that there isn't more, we still have a feeling we'll fly again anyhow. I don't think an older crew would bother me too much.

Glad to add Greece to the list of shiny countrymen I've talked to, don't think we've had any from there while I've been here. How's everybody hangin' in there with the economics and whatnot??

OHHHH thank you for the welcome. I don’t mind an older crew also… Let’s hope they do not make the remake after 20 years (daam I miss our captain)!!Even in this case I will watch it but it will not be the same. Your feeling is just a hunch or something more concrete?

Well things here are very alarming. We have politicians who are corrupted and no hope for the future. The biggest problem is unemployment. If you loose your job you can’t find a new one. Let me rephrase that. Maybe you can find a job with 600 dollars per month at best. We all know that politicians are elected from the people so it’s our fault but you understand that TV is promoting the same ones that brought us in this situation. We say that all of them are like COPY and PASTE.
I am thinking that Firefly was very accurate with the Chinese concept. In the near future we will have to speak Chinese in order to find a descent job!!

Hey now, you don't have to take on that kind of blame. Most of these guys are corrupt and incompetent and they misrepresented themselves. I figure it's not the public's fault for hoping and expecting their elected officials to have a bit of honesty and integrity.

The economy looks bad, but there is one upside, in that the part of the economy that dragged it down in the first place usually doesn't survive the transition. So you've gotten rid of some toxic assets or corruption and that generally makes recovering easier. And sometimes production and employment opportunities even increases after a downturn, for similar reasons.

Anyway, welcome.

Two things...If there's $$$ to be had in a thing Hollywood will eventually go there-and I think if they get off their butts and market it proper this time, with all the die hard Browncoats helping out, that there's plenty of cash-y monies to be had. That and we've never had any inclination from Joss or even the crew that given the chance that they WOULDN'T do it, especially now with the popularity of the crew on other shows...so yeah...the short of it is that WE'RE HOLDING!

For the second part I totally agree with you. For the first part well I have my objections. We all knew that we had problems, serious problems but we refused to see them, analyze them. Now it’s difficult cause the whole world is watching. I am optimistic though like your second part!!

I am happy to found all of you. Firefly rules

Ni hao, barlong. The coat looks good on you. Please feel free to have a mug of the Mudder's Milk we keep ready for newcomers. And here's your personal punnet of strawberries, brought back from one of my supply forays. Hide it if we are boarded by Feds, 'cos they know nothing of my business.
The buffet is up in the galley, should you choose to question it. Hot cheeses are in the chafing dishes, shimmerwine in the fountain at the after end of the table, and ice-planets on the bottom shelf of the cooler. We are at present over-supplied with Borosian ginger and Mirandan licorice, and short on Late Night Snack, so be warned.

Thank you all for your interest. The people here came out to protest in peace and few hundred people tried to ruin everything. Some bloggers say that the government is using them in order to frighten people and not go out and protest. Does this sounds familiar with Firefly universe?

Yep, it sounds familiar. After reading a more in depth article, I was actually suprised that it was only a couple hundred after hearing there were approximately 100,000 protesters...I think if it happened here it probably would have been worse, heh. I think Joss was on to something with the Pax except its "a tenth of a percent of the population will always go nuts in too close of a proximity of the rest of the population" No designer drugs needed, they just bring themselves...

Is any of the rioting or the economy affecting you personally or your family or friends?? Do you know people who have left because of it? They sure do seem to make a big deal outta your country here in the news...

Well for the time being thing for my close friends and family are ok. If I loose my job then I will start looking in other countries also. A lot of people have left cause unemployment here is very high. Also the thing you said that they show a lot of attention for my country. This is a little bit strange. A country of 10 million is the focus for the entire world. I think they use us for a kind of economical experiment. We will see.

Now something else caught my attention, NASA is cutting the expeditions to Mars but the Chinese are spending billion for their space program. Again is this familiar with something?

They also have to make a multibillion war in a distant country. Then they can burn their cash fast.

I was listening to BBC reports the other night, thinking that of course we pay attention to what happens in Greece. Not only is the current situation possibly the key to what will happen in the EuroZone (with very serious global implications) in the future, but we in the West look to Greece as the place where our entire civilization was founded.
I envisioned a circle, then the snake eating its own tail.
No wonder I've become an insomniac. Late-night philosophy is the pits.

Nail on the head, as usual, Bun... But don't let it get your sleep...
We'll need that energy for when the zombies come

Off topic, but a study said recently a lot of nightmares are caused by temperature (which floods you with hormones) and you get too warm when you sleep and that is the fastest way for your body to get you awake. I know it's true for me...I get constant nightmares in the winter, but can never actually get to sleep in the summer. Like, for a week at a time

Have the Chinese put a man in orbit and brought him back to Earth in 1 piece yet ? Have they even tried ?

Until they do that, they're still 50 years behind the Russians and Americans.

I heard that the center of Athens was so deserted a couple of nights ago that people were actually taking driving lessons there. Sounds peaceful but far too empty.
